well, thankyou okie, i would like to introduce myself a little better. this is my first time logging on to any forum of any kind, but it is the first time i have been diagnosed with lupus or fibromyalgia and i got really excited and thankful when i started reading that there were other people that i could relate to out there and i am really sorry if i didnt/dont do know all the ins and outs yet.. but here is some more about me.

I have been hurting in my spine and hips and shoulders for about a year and a half and didnt know why. i can now add total fatigue to that for the last 9 months. last sept 2009, i was hospitalized for what they thought was aseptic meningitis and had a lumbar puncture that didnt tell them a whole lot. I was treated with some pain meds and rest and after 3 days i was sent back home. i didnt feel any better though. a couple of months went by and it was all i could do to get through the work day, and i would fall into bed the second i got home each day.. so i went and asked the general doc to test my thyroid, that came back as underfunctioning and hashimotos was finally diagnosed by january 2010. i then went to my gyn doc and he said that he had a suspicion that i mite have something auto immune going on further .. so he did anticardiolipin, lupus antibody, and ana tests. he called me a week later and said that i needed to see a rhematologist asap. lucky for me, i got in around march and he did more blood work and said that i have lupus and fibromyalgia. i have been on prednisone, plaquanil, cymbalta and as of last week lyrica. my pain is not controlled at all yet, i am hoping to learn as much as i can about this mess to hopefully manage my life in a positive way and its just crazy., i want to know what to expect i guess.. i want to be able to tell my husband and family what to expect.. the rhematologist i see now doesnt seem real receptive to telling me much. anyway, i am new here and i dont know what else to say. thanks.

Rivertree I hope you don't mind I gave you your very own spot. on the board. You don't have to apologize for not knowing anything. I'd be more worried if you thought you did. I still don't know anything after 5 years. Well at laest I have lots to learn. I just got up to use the bathroom and I checked my computer and saw your name so I wanted to resond. I'm glad you came back.
You will get lots of good help and encouragement here.

Hey Rivertree! Welcome to HW! This is a wonderful online family and one that has helped me get through my hardest times with this disease. Hope you stick around and become part of the family! If I read correcntly I saw you recently started plaquenil. Give it a few more weeks, Plaquenil usually takes several months to get the full benefits from it. How much Prednisone are you on?

I hope you start feeling some more relief and once again Welcome to HW :)!
