I have MCTD and it drives me crazy when a dr or, for that matter anyone, who knows what MCTD is gives you the look like you are almost dead?  And then it is usually accompanied by "I'm so sorry".  True some days I feel like I'm almost dead but I am not ready to give up.  Any ideas of a good, even humorous, come back for that one?
I'm still me, I am not the disease....

Sorry to hear that jdrea. For me most people tell me that they know someone with it. Just let their looks go, don't worry about them.
If, it si a doctor they most know, but anyone else.....just tell them you are doing ok....or that you have had better days. I had a friend that was dying. When ever someone asked his reply was "okay", "good" or "well". He once told me that people don't really want to know how he is doing. That they don't want to hear "I am dying"

That is one thing I can tell you about this site.....people CARE!!!! and CARE alot.

Enjoy what you can today and leave the rest for another day.

How about responding to "I'm so sorry" with "so am I". Honestly, most people mean well but they are unsure what to say. Come here and vent - it will make you feel better!
Take care, Fran
