Warning a vent is coming along. As some of you know I've had lupus a very long time skull skull

Nine days ago I cut my medrol back by 4mgs. My chest has been hurting since before the week of valentines. My broken ribs on my left side hurt like @$!#, yesterday I hurt so bad I only picked up my medication and fell into my bed as soon as I got home.

Well this morning I awoke to SEVERE chest pain. On the pain scale I'm at a solid 8. I know this isn't my broken ribs. Since I seem to have this all the time, I'm certain my pericarditis is back in full force nono nono nono, I've been told IF it comes back I will need a biopsy of my pericardium. Actually, not looking forward to any more tests mad I'm sick of tests and I'm sick of Drs no matter if he's cute

I'm scheduled for my bone marrow biopsy on the 15th of March, have to be admitted on the 14th though. I need blood work a type and cross match, my procedure is being done in the OR and ALL patients that go to the OR, must have 2 units of blood in there.

I'm on blood thinners and I think I'm gonna make a big ol mess of things. I've not been told to stop it or even cut back, so in someways I hope I don't bleed out on the table and then maybe I would mind so much, I'm just SO confused right now.

I'm feeling so bad tonight, I hope I can sleep. I need to go back over to my daughters school to help out with something, so please pray for good weather, and a Mom that doesn't hurt at an 8 all day.

Thanks for letting me vent. Hope each and everyone of you are doing better than me.

Hugs,
Barbara

Barbara..VENT AWAY!,.so sorry you are feeling so awful ..I can totally understand you being over the whole testing/dr thing..
You should spk with your physician prior to your procedure about taking blood thinners. Normally those are held anywhere from one to three days before any surgery.
Hoping all goes well and will keep you in my prayers. eyes

Barbara,

I wish I could fly to wherever it is you live and give you a great big hug. Hopefully, this will do:
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))).
Your journey has not been easy, so vent away. This is a great place for that kind of support.

My arms are long enough.
My shoulder is wide enough.
My heart is big enough.
My ears are large enough.
So just lean in friend and let it out.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((hug))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

So sorry you're having a rough time. Please remind the doctor about your blood thinner.

Thanks everyone for your support. I emailed my PCM today I'm in so much pain and it really hurts to breath. She replied and suggested I be admitted for pain control. I was seen by the NP covering her patients on Monday, my hubby stayed home from work, when that happens you know I'm bad off.

Well the NP ordered a chest X-ray but not another rib one. Stated there's to much radiation in the rib ones. The chest one looked ok said it's most likely your broken ribs. So I emailed my PCM and she said its probably my ribs, how did I feel like going into the hospital for pain relief. I asked if I could wait 24 hours and what would be the max amounts I could have.

She agreed to 24 hours so if I'm no better around 2:00 I guess I'll be admitted. I can't sneeze, cough or take in a deep breath at all. It hurts so bad to move I just can't take the never ending pain. Will update tomorrow if I'll be spending a few days in the hospital.

Hugs,
Barbara

Ouch! I wish they could build up your bone strength so this won't happen again. If you don't breathe deep you could develop pneumonia. Get some pain relief soon so you can feel better.
(((((((((((very gentle hug)))))))))))))))) because I don't want to hurt you. <3

Thanks Joy I appreciate your gentle hugs. I emailed my Dr at 1:30 this morning requesting to be admitted. Well of course that didn't happen. The federal government shut down because of the weather. For all of 2" of snow, it's just so stupid how they panic about snow here.

I could go to the ER, but I wanted my PCM to handle the admission. My PCM wanted me to try taking the max on my pain meds. My hubby was worried about my complex sleep apena and didn't want me to take the extra pain meds w/o him here.

So he had the day off and I have been taking double of my prescribed pain meds, so far I'm not feeling better. Depending on what the weather does here I may go into the hospital for pain control.

I hope I can sleep comfortably tonight. I'll see how I feel in the morning and also see if Walter Reed is open tomorrow.

Barbara

Hi Everyone, just a quick update, LOL, ok long update. I came into the hospital yesterday afternoon. My PCM called the ER and the internal med team that would be caring for me. I arrived at 2:00 sent hubby home around 7:45, was finally brought up to my room around 9:30pm.

The whole time I was in the ER I was able to get IV pain meds. Upon getting on the floor they started me on a pain pump. Took lots of photos of my chest and spine. I have broken another rib and they really believe I also have a compression fracture in my spine.

My cardiologist came and did my echo at my bedside in the ER after 7:00pm. He found only a small portion of fluid around my heart. He did find, however, that I had calsifacation of my pericardium. Which isn't a good thing. Most likely will have to have surgery on my pericardium and collect multiple biopsies.

My malar rash was in FULL BLOOM last night and today. Cardiologist wanted to touch my cheeks, as he had NEVER seen my face so red and hot. The on call Rheumy took a photo of my face today for my regular Rheumy. I'm also having issues with my kidneys I am officially on a renal predialysis healthy heart diet. Yup you guessed it, NOT THE BEST OF DIETS. Then Pain Magement came to see me today. The way he was talking I most likely will be here thru Monday. He order a huge amount of oral pain meds, to attempt to wean me off the pain pump. They are planning on weaning me off the pain pump tomorrow.

Because I've been on narcotic pain relief for a really long time I have a HUGE tolerance issue. The nurse was afraid to give me the dose, this afternoon of my oral pain killer. I've managed to cut back on the number of times I've needed to push the button for IV meds.

The on-call Rheumy came by to see me, too. He informed me that I have a SEVERE case of osteoporosis, he's never seen such a bad case in someone my age. I had never met this Rheumy, but he knew me and my case. He actually told me that my Rheumy will be the on call attending starting on Monday, so I will be able to see him then.

I'm suspecting I'll be getting a CT w/contrast tomorrow and an MRI w/contrast. They need a better view of my spine, and I may end up needing an echo that's done from the inside of my throat.. It's like getting an endoscopy but it's of my heart it's called a TEE.

Other than that I'm sitting around and trying NOT to panic and flee in the middle of the night. Will keep you updated as I know more, Hope everyone is having a good weekend and you are all feeling well.

Hugs,
Barbara

Shoot a Monkey, Barbara!!!
I would be getting ready to run if I was in your position too. Unfortunately we can't run from our troubles they just wind up following you. :)
I've heard of the TEE. It's not too bad. Will they be sedating you for it?
I hope they can get this weak bone issue fixed.

Here is Barbara's latest update:

Well my weekend has been spent in the hospital. I came in last Thursday and hope to go home tomorrow. Yesterday, was a most upsetting day for me, I'm still not calm enough to talk about what the DIRT bag Dr pulled on me yesterday.

Thursday I go back into the hospital, except at NIH, they are the research study folks. Friday I will have my bone marrow biopsy done, since it's going to be done under GA, I'll go home on Saturday.

I'm suspecting I'll also get a blood transfusion on Friday after my biopsy. I will need the blood but they would prefer I hold out until the biopsy is done.

Other than that what's up for me for the week. Hope everyone have love pain days and have a good week.

Hugs,
Barbara

Well my port isn't giving blood return, so I need to see interventional radiology this morning. After that I hope to go home. Of course, I go back into the hospital on Thursday to get my bone marrow biopsy done on Friday.

My hemoglobin is falling rapidly, but they want me to wait until my biopsy is done before giving me blood. So I will most likely get my blood on Friday. If all goes well I will be home Satirday sometime.

Please pray that my biopsy results provides the DX that I have to fix me. Wheter it is a good or bad results I'm prepared to face whatever the results may be. I just want a firm answer. I truly can not continue on this way.

Will let you know if I get home today. Wishing you all a good day.

Hugs,
Barbara

I think we all need to gather the posse together and whup up on that bad doctor!
You just give us the word and we'll all come riding in to the rescue.
A doctor's oath is "do no harm". I believe that is mentally as well as physically.

I hope that the biospy goes okay and you will get some good new for a change.
