I do have a rheumatologist appointment in about a month. He doesn't have good reviews, but apparently there is a shortage of them here so I had to take what I could get. : (I'm so tired of feeling so sick and tired. Here are my symptoms:

Extreme fatigue, bruise easily, sometimes painful urination, chronic yeast infections, endometriosis, sciatica, rashes, have had bouts of hives, positive ana, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis about 9 years ago, sensitive to heat, muscle pain and weakness, sores in my mouth, enlarged red blood cells, night sweats, headaches/migraines, shortness of breath, dizziness and fainting, nausea, stomach ulcers, chest pain

I probably left some things out, but that should be most of it. I have looked at the lupus 101 and all that. Just want to talk to a real person. I feel about 80.

Thanks,

Melissa

Hi Melissa, Not sure if your symptoms point to lupus or not - no two individuals have the same symptoms and a positive ANA does not mean you have lupus. A couple of thoughts come to mind - is your UC well controlled, have you had your iron checked (many with UC have to take iron supplements), have you had your thyroid checked and vitamin D? What meds are you taking for UC? Have you started any new meds for that? I have UC as well as lupus and initially was diagnosed with Drug Induced Lupus thought to have been triggered by Lialda, however, after discontinuing the Lialda my symptoms returned but not as bad at which time I was diagnosed with Lupus. Have you been on steroids, and if so, did the muscle pain subside? Sorry you aren't feeling well - it really sucks to have several medical conditions going on. Hope you get some relief soon.
Hoshimoto's Hypothyroidism DX Oct 1997
Left Sided UC DX Nov 2013
Pancolitis DX Feb, 2016
GERD DX Nov 2013
Lupus, DX Sept 2015
Medications - Synthroid, Hydrocort Enemas; Prilosec; Iron; Plaquenil; Vit D; Uceris
Past Meds: Lialda - severe joint pain, initial DX Drug Induced Lupus , discontinued mesalamine, symptoms returned - less severe, DX Lupus; Imuran = Fevers (serum sickness)

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I do have the UC well controlled now and am on a low maintenance dose of lialda. My thyroid, iron, and vit D are fine. I haven't been on steroids for quite some time but I do remember feeling like it helped with pain.

I hope you don't mind an additional question...I have normal tests: ana is OK , normal c3 and c4 ok, but the Ch50 which is high (over 60) sed rate 20 and crp 5.6, I have the butterfly rash, extreme photosensitivity, break out in hives, tingling fingertips that sometimes swell, debilitating fatique (and I mean DEBILITATING, sleeping 15 to 20 hours a day for weeks in a row, and then I am OK again) and swollen glands under my jaw for the last 2 years. Does anyone know what this could be since it doesn't appear to be lupus? Very concerned and confused... Thanks, any insight would be appreciated. Dr says its just fibro, which I know I have, but I cant make sense of these ongoing swollen glands. They suspect sjorgrens but the tests have come back Ok for sjorgrens too...The exhaustion is the worse thing, and the only thing that has managed to keep my energy level up is a low dose of phentramine for weight loss. Off the phentramine, I am too weak to teach, and consider myself disabled at this point.
