Hi,

I just received a call from my doctor reviewing blood work results and she's referring me to a rheum. I am in limbo with having ms and have been for a number of years. In addition to my ongoing ms issues, I have been struggling with many new symptoms:

Extreme fatigue -- can be very overwhelming, joint paint in elbow and ankle, swelling in ankle/feet and some shortness of breath. I've had an echo cardio gram on my heart, lung function testing... Both came back normal. My doc thinks it's something a rheumatologist could help with.

My bloodwork came back with Ana positive 1:160 and homogenous pattern. My send rate is elevated and my ccp? is slightly elevated as well. All antibodies tested came back negative which I was great. Does this rule out lupus? I'm not sure what to think, she mentioned lupus as a possibility and possibly ra. I just want to know what's going on.. Thanks in advance for your reply a, it's my first time posting.

Welcome, littleflower.
The rheumatologist will be able to tell what's happening with you. He needs to do further testing and do a check list of symptoms.

I hope answers are found quickly for you and you get to feeling better soon.

Thanks Joy!

I'm really hoping i can get answers fast, and know that's not always the case. I've been reading some posts and am getting some great info. I think I'll start keeping notes on my symptoms so I don't forget since I'm suffering from brain fog!!

The fog is annoying , but I've found that keeping notes is very helpful.
I put very important things on my phone and set alarms to help me.

Hi,

Just an update. I saw a rheumatologist today and she said I don't have lupus. She told me I have fibro and she doesn't need to see me again. I wasn't hoping to have lupus or any other autoimmune disease, but I'm just not sure my symptoms fit this. I guess I'll just continue to track my symptoms and hope it gets better. I feel a little discouraged.

Generally fibromyalgia doesn't have a positive ANA. You might want to keep a list of Lupus symptoms handy and if you start showing more of them get a second opinion from another rheumy.

I generally suggest using a rheumy that is active with the local chapter of www.lupus.org -- that way you know they are interested in Lupus.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely keep s list of symptoms. The doctor said is was borderline high, almost normal Ana at 1:160 so I'm not sure.
