a few weeks, after the hives had finally gone away, i had places on my arms (fairly large areas) that when touched felt like a burning sensation which hurts a lot.  today it's back (along with my pink face).  is it possible for something like tylenol to help with this or a cream even?

  That sounds awful sweetie! Maybe you should call your doctor today and see what he says. When my skin burns its not as bad as you describe...((Hugs)). I usually get a cool wash cloth and lay on the area that burns and stings or run cool water over it. I have sat in a tub of cool water before as well.

  I hope you get some relief soon. Please keep us updated and take care. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sounds like the same thing I get, but my doctor calls it "neuralgia"... It hurts horribly like shingles, but there is never anything there. Its probably a type of peripheral neuropathy. I have found that when my digestive system can tolerate anti-inflammatory medications, they help. For it to run its course in me usually takes about four weeks.

I truly hope this gets better soon!! {{Gentle HUGS}}

Hey Jessica,
I get that too.  I've been told it's either neuralgia or fibromyalgia.  Like Babs, I use a cold cloth or have a cool bath. That works for me. Hope it goes away soon for ya.

My skin gets rashes and the burning sensation like how you describe. It was red, raw, and just painful. A cool washcloth helps temporarily, but I had to get a prescription medicine tetracycline and prescription cream to help. And I've been on it for a few months now and it's the only thing that cleared up my rashes. My skin is still pink and red sometimes, but the burning sensation and welts/blisters are gone.

I suggest discussing it with your rheumy or going in to see a dermatologist. Over the counter creams or lotions didnt work for me.

I hope you feel better soon!
I was diagnosed with Lupus with Antiphospholipid syndrome in Nov 05.

Avita cream, Clindamycin lotion, triamcinolone ointment daily to control skin rashes.

Rituxan infusions twice every six months
