Hi all,

Wish me luck, I am now trying Celebrex to see if it helps this joint pain of mine. I have heard it doesn't work for some but has been a life saver for others. I don't know if the joint pain seems worse from going off my original med to try these others or if it's disease progression sad all I know is I don't remember having pain like this nono .

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Stacie, I'm sorry you are in so much pain and I hope the Celebrex helps fairly soon. I haven't tried it, but my son takes Celebrex for his juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and it has worked better for him than any of the other meds they tried. It did take a few days to a week to start taking effect though. Hopefully you'll be one of the people who responds well to celebrex. Do you have any other type of pain pill in the meantime for the pain such as tramadol or a mild narcotoc pain med? If the pain continues to be really bad it wouldn't hurt to call your doc to see if there is something you can use short term until your celebrex kicks in.

Take care and let us know how it goes.

Stacie, I've heard really good things about Celebrex.  I've never been on it, but I've heard great things.  I hope it works well for you!

Stacie, good luck with Celebrex. Do you supplement your meds with any pain killers such as Tramadol? I can't get by without it. My doc tells me to take it round the clock, and I can hardly go without it. I sure hope you get some relief soon. Pat

Thanks ladies, I sure hope it kicks in quickly, my fingers & feet are still painful this morning, stayed out of work because I'm not feeling well at all. No, I am not on any pain meds, maybe that's something I need to talk to my rheumy about, maybe to have as a back up, not to mention something to take when I get migraines since I can't take Advil. She has also said if these NSAIDS don't hep my joint pain she would consider Methotrexate in addition to Imuran. I didn't know you could take more than one immune-suppressant drugs at a time.

Hi Stacie.  I've been taking celebrex twice a day for a couple of years. My internist put me on it before I was diagnosed with SLE.  I also still take arthritis tylenol 2-3 times a day and when the pain is really bad I take neurontin.  I saw my rheumy (whom we both know) week before last.  He asked why I don't take neurontin daily and I said I developed a tolerance before and want to save it for the bad times.  BTW, rheumy increased my methotrexate from 10mg to 15mg.  He also prescribed a cane and gave me a handicap parking authorization, so he's on my good list now.  I hope you can get the pain under control.  Pain sucks. sad

Thank you Donna, I really hope the Celebrex works for me, if not I will go back on Piroxicam and see what Dr. Kim says in June. I have mixed feelings about taking Imuran and Methotrexate, she said it could be done in small doses and I take 100mg of Imuran. I really trust her, but I would like to find out more about the 2 meds being used together, ya know?

Does the Tylenol work well for you? I could probably take that too, maybe I should put a call in to the doc and ask? I am willing to try anything at this point.

I am glad he increased the Mtx for you, I know you are happy he is listening to you! Take care

Well..... things are not so good right now. Early yesterday morning I began having stabbing pains in my stomach, I stayed out of work couldn't hardly eat anything all day (except ice cream), just felt blahhh! Last night I ate some dinner so I could take my meds and at 5:15 am this morning I woke with the same stabbing pains, both times they lasted an hour. I talked to my pharmacist and he said this happens with Celebrex and it could go on for a week nono and if it last longer than that to call my doc, a week..........are you kidding me? I put a call into my docs office, now waiting for them to call me back but I think I've decided to go back on the original med and see how it works now, that will tell me if my joint pain has progressed or if this med works better for me than the others.

Anyway, just wanted to give and update and thank each of you for your support.
