We suspect I have avascular necrosis in my hip and I broke my ankle in the leg that has the hip problems. Anyway, I'm in a cast from the knee down and am wondering if the immobility of my lower leg will increase my risk for a blood clot or do additional damage to my hip. My rheumatologist was the one who sent me to the orthopedic surgeon after she saw how my PCP mistreated my leg, but she doesn't know what the ortho doc did. I'll be in the cast for about three weeks and then in an air cast for another six to eight weeks.

((((( Amy )))))) I am sorry to hear you broke your ankle! I don't know much about blood clots but I am sure others will be along shortly. Just wanted to give you some hugs! Take good care of yourself and I pray your ankle heals quickly!

Hi Amy,

I'm also sorry to hear you have broken your ankle...((Hugs)). I hope it heals quickly as well. Your doctor would probably be the best one to ask about the blood clots or more damage to your hip. If you are able to get up and down and move around some each day, that should keep your blood flowing throughout your body but, of course I'm not a doctor. Please take care and keep us updated. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
