I made Easter Dinner yesterday for my children and my parents.  For dessert we had homemade pound cake with strawberries and cream.  I felt fine after eating, felt fine when doing my devotion, and felt fine when I went to bed.
I woke up at 2:00 this morning with that all to familiar prickly crawly rash all over my body.  I took two benadryl, but this time they didnt help, so I added a Zyrtec.  When I got up to go to work, I was still itching, so I took two more benadryl, drank my coffee, ate breakfast and came in.
Now, though, I am having what feels like an anxiety attack and my throat is very scratchy.  I went ahead and took an Ativan, and it has helped some, but I'm trying to figure out what caused this.  Could it have been the strawberries?  What is it my body is reacting to??  I hate it when this happens.  I am still itching all over, but Im afraid to take any more antihistamines, in case they are whats causing the anxiety type feeling.

Ugh, anyone been through one of these mystery reactions before?  What did you do that helped?

Thanks!

Victoria,
((Hugs)) It sounds like you are in misery! You should call your doctor and let him/her know what is happening. I have never had any reactions to food, but there was a recent post that someone had a bad reaction to banana's. I hope you get some relief quickly. Take care and please get this checked out. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Victoria, while I have no experience with what you're going through, it sounds just awful. I can't imagine going to work after having taken two benadryl. Have you discussed this with your doctor? Allergic reactions scare me because they can be serious and you don't want to go into anaphylactic shock, however I believe that happens right after ingesting something to which you are allergic, and not hours later. I'm no doctor and shouldn't even make predictions, but I would talk to your doctor.

I'll be thinking about you today. Come back whenever you need to get this off your chest. I'll be checking in. Take care.
