My throat is hurting on and off in the middle, with what I have left.  I have no submandibular glands anymore and I'm afraid theyll have to take the bit in the middle too.  I'm wondering what you do if you have no salivary glands?  I mean, I guess I'll have some little ones maybe somewhere else?  I don't know.  I'm hoping it's my thyroid or lymph nodes.  I've had some really good days lately but it hurts pretty bad some of the time.  I keep hoping its my thyroid and it will go away, or it is my thyroid dying from hashis, which I wish it would just hurry up and do because it's going to anyway.  My TPOS antibodies are down from in the thousands to 504 (normal is like 80) and I test high for the ones for thyroid cancer, and I need to see the endo, but am trying a new one and can't see her till october.  I guess thyroid cancer is slow growing so if the worst, which it probably isn't at all, waiting will just make it show up better.  I think its the salivary gland though, swelled up fast again in a few hours like last time, not going down.  Now another surgery and scar, which will make my neck look like a series of 4 scars in front and one long one down the back into my shoulders.  When does this end?  They told me they cant cut me up much more there, so why didn't they do it all at once, just take everything.  Money I guess.  What do I do with no salivary glands? Has anyone here lost all their salivary glands?

Hi Marji, No I havn't . I'm sorry you must be scared to death. I hope it's something else like you said. My doctor yesterday way feeling under my jaw at my glads. I just figured it was the glads that swell all the time. She said no carol you salivary glands are swollen. I didn't even know that was where they were. Do you have an appt? the C word is very scarey but it's best to get it checked out as soon as possible. I will be praying they can fix this without surgery.

Hi Marji:

You've sure got a lot going on. I'm sure you are very very worried about loosing your salivary glands. I hope that they can figure out something different, than removing them. Know we're thinking of you and hoping you'll feel better soon.

Love,
Barbara

Thanks so much. It really helps to hear your kind words Carol and Barbara Lee. Just so frustrated and tired. I see the ENT surgeon on the 18th and my primary on Monday. I hope my PC will give me something for pain because the bladder problem isn't going away and it seems like I have that Interstitial Cystitis, which is what that trigonitis can be, because its been going on so long and I was even on IV antibiotics and stuff and it didn't go away. I know the surgeon isn't going to want to cut me again, but it hurts so bad I just want it out. I'm so weak lately and tired and my body is changing in a bad way, you know getting sicker, more problems that just don't go away, its frightening and painful. The worst part is fighting for pain relief. I think I might try to go back on fentanyl or something and just not care but be out of pain and live my life, whatever it is. It seems like the more they try to fix me, the worse things get. At least then I could function and not be so whiney. I'm sorrry to whine. I'm not scared. In a way, I just wish it was over.

Marji, I hope your doctor can give you something for pain tomorrow. You aren't whining and even if you were you have the right. This disease is so relentless. It's like trying to hold back flood with a peice of chewing gum. You might stop one leak for a while but you'll get another somewhere else. I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. You've been around here long enough to know if you want to rant or rave of scream or cry this is a great place to do it. Let us know how it goes tomorrow please. Praying it's somthing they can figure out and cure without to much problem.
