Hey all,
Does anyone have limited scleroderma (CREST disease)?  The pattern of my last two ANA tests is pointing towards it.  My Rheumy has not officially diagnosed it yet because I don't have the symptoms yet.  I have been reading up on the subject and it seems kind of scary to see what I might be facing down the road.
Thanks,
Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, I havn't been DX'd with it yet either but I have some symptoms. Like choking on food somtimes. Spots on my hands. My ANA is 1:2460, with a nuclear pattern. I'm not crazy about the rheumy that said he was thinking crest but he did say of all the auto immune disease that you can get crest is the least invasive. Now if you are talking about scleraderma that attacks your organs that's another subject. O personally don't beleive there is any auto immune disease that could be discribed as good. Like you I've looked at picturees of crest and read up on it. It doesn't sound to nice to me. I hope you get some answers soon.

God Bless

Hi Rhonda and Carol,

I have limited sclero in overlap with lupus (and hashi's thyroiditis and autoimmune encephalopathy, which is a neurological complication of the hashi's thyroiditis, and sicca syndrome). Just as you would with lupus, educate yourself as much as possible about it, if diagnosed be sure to go to a rheumie that has experience treating it and get involved with a support group (in person if possible, on-line if not).

Most of all remember that again, like lupus, scleroderma will be as individual as each individual who has the misfortune of developing it is. So, no two cases will be alike and chances are you will not develop like what you read.

Hope this helps. If you have questions, I'll try to help. In the meantime, don't "borrow" trouble or worry over milk before it is spilled!
