 Hello........ does anyone know the risk for a women with lupus who has sex with a man with herpes..both oral and genital?

Waterhound,

  I would say the risk is very high. Anyone with a suppressed immune system from meds or overactive one from a disease is at high risk of catching anything.

I should add, you need to talk to your doctor and ask about treatment if you have been exposed to herpes.

I agree w/Babs.

Additionally, the risk is higher if the partner has *active* herpes (ie visible sores), and lower if the partners herpes is inactive AND is taking Valtrex or another daily treatment.

I also agree with Babs. If you were to become infected, it might be harder for you to fight off the infection. That risk increases depending on the meds you're taking for lupus. Good luck. I hope things work out for you.
