hi everyone. I'm not sure what is causing these mouth sores. First of all I take inhalers for my lungs. I have to be careful to rinse my mouth out after using them so I don't get sores. I have only gotten them once and that was when I was in the hospital. Anyway I had one at the roof of my mouth last night that felt like I had burn it from eating hot food or somthing. Now I have 2 more. 1 on my gum and one on the bottom of my tongue. I don't think these are the same as from my inhalers. I was wondering if you get them from lupus and what yours are like? I can feel these but to say that actually hurt would not be true. Maybe a 3 of 10. but I sure don't want them to get any worse.

thanks all
love

Carol, those sound like the sores I get. I can feel them with my tongue and sometimes they hurt a little. Usually the ones that aren't on my tongue don't hurt too bad (or not at all), but the ulcers on my tongue do hurt, but I think the tongue ulcers are due more to Sjogren's than lupus. If the sores start to bother you too much there are some mouth rinses you can use. My doc had the pharmacy mix up a mouth rinse that really does help. Isn't all of this fun? :(

Hi Carol,

I don't get too many on my tongue but I usually get them on the roof of my mouth. I usually don't know they are there until I eat something salty or spicy, then they really hurt. I use Gly-Oxide which is an antispectic that promotes healing of mouth sores which really seems to help for me. I can usually get relief by the next day or two after a swoosh. I hope things get better for you... they are awful.

I Have used the "magic mouth wash" stuff when I had it bad after the hospital. It was that or not eat. I hope it doesn't get that bad this time. mad

Des I was so happy to hear about your test results! what a relef huh? and Hippi, I hope you don't wait to long to get something for your anxiety. You know what stress does to us!

Love ya guys

Hi Carol,
I use to get those sores alot, but since I have been taking folic acid, I rarely get them now. I hope this gets better for you soon. How are you feeling otherwise? Take care and keep us updated when you can. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Bab's thanks for the tip. I just took some folic acid.Hopfully that will get rid of it quickly. Other than my mouth I don't feel too bad with lupus kind of stuff but I do have a plan old ordinary terrible earache. My PCP won't give me antibiotics. She told me to use Lotrimin. The pharmcist said to try white vinegar because one of the percription drugs they use the only active ingredient is vinegar. So I tried both and low   and behold..........Neither one of them are working! eyes . Gee no surprise there. It's actually starting to get down into my gland now. hurting much worse than before. This probably sounds funny but I am actually happy that I have a "normal" health problem instead of a lupie health problem. So anyway it looks like I am going to have to call my PCP and get an appt with her PA. Other than that I feel pretty good. A little tired but than i didn't sleep well but I still am feeling MUCH better than I have in a year!

I guess you're sorry you asked me how I was doing now huh? LOL

Love ya

Okie

I got those not long ago.  My doc told me to use warm salt water to rinse the mouth, and it really helped.  They are darn painful.  I also used Kenalog. It's a prescription medication to apply. It took me literally two weeks for the pain to go away.

Carol,

I get mouth sores too from Lupus. I get them all over and sometimes more than one at a time and they like to hang around for weeks!!!! There are a couple of Rx's you can get from your doctor, one is a paste that is good for the sores on your cheek, etc then there is a "magic mouthwash" that's good for the rest of them too. Like Babs I have found folic acid keeps mine away. I hope you feel some relief soon!

Hi Bab's omega, stacie, The only one in my mouth that hurts is the one on my tongue. Of course that one rubs against my teeth and makes it hurt even worse. I did take the folic acid today.

This stupid earache is making me crazy though. It hurts so bad. I don't know what the doctor is thinking. having me use cream. I need some dog gone antibiotics. I can barely touch it because it's so sore. it's hard to hear out of too. mad I started usiong the cream yesterday and it's just worse tonight. So I'll call her tomorrow and beg for some antibiotics. She'll probably make me come in though.

Ok I'm done sneveling. It's just that I am doing pretty well as far as energy level goes. It's just this other garbage that wants to make me miserable.

Love to all

Hi Carol.  Your ear ache sounds awful! You must be miserable. I sure hope you're able to get treatment before fever (or a flare) sets in.  As for the mouth sores, it seems I get them every couple of months.  I get them on the roof of my mouth that don't hurt and on my tongue that hurt like a son of a dog.  I use magic mouthwash and I also take folic acid daily.  I'm sending prayers and lots of hugs.  I hope you're feeling better soon!

Don't mess around with your ear!! If you still think something is wrong go back to the dr or to another dr. Ear things can easily turn into hearing loss -- I have 2 friends who are each deaf in one ear due to letting things go too long.

I get canker sores alot with my s.l.e lupus. I have found that foods with high acidic acid content(such as oranges, tomatoes etc. and stess), make it worse. Oral base and kank-aid and other forms of oral meds work well, as well as rinsing with salt water. I know how painful it is, so , hang in there. Also Benadryl and malox mixed together and then swished around in the mouth help........Good Luck. DD

Hi DD, I also wanted to welcome you. Feel free to start a new topic and introduce yourself. I'm glad you joined us. This is a great place for support and understanding.

Carol, I'm sorry you are still dealing with the mouth sores. I don't know when you see your doc again, but maybe you could even put in a call to him and see if he could prescribe some magic mouthwash (mine is a mix of benadryl, malox, and lidocain) or something else for it.

Take care

Welcome DD and hi Carol,

Sorry about your painful mouth sores. Ouch. Eating has never been such fun I'm sure. I can't imagine benadryl and malox mixed together, but add the lidocain and it starts to make sense. Hope that helps.
