Why does everything happen on weekends? I think I'm getting a bladder infection or somthing. It doesn't burn when I urinate but you will have to excuse my explination I have this ache by my bladder and now it hurts on both sides of the inside of my legs right below my crotch. I noticed that a lot of people here get them. Is it all the meds or what? So off I go for some cranberry juice! Yucko. mad

Carol,
(((Hugs))) Bless your heart! You need to call someone about this since this is something new and sudden. Do you have a fever?
A bladder infection is usually pressure and feeling like you have to constantly urinate. Sometimes you think you have to go real bad on only pass a drip or two. I'm not sure about the type of pain you describe especially the pain on the inside of your upper legs.
If this doesn't get any better or gets worse or you have a temp of 100.5 or more call the doctor, please. Let us know what you find out. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Bab's I didn't even think of taking my temp. but it's 99.7 now. I'll keep an eye on it. My doctor doesn't have any one on call for her this weekend! The pain is like a radiating pain. I had that once before when I had kidney infection. but I don't feel like I have one of those. I'll keep an eye on things and call if it gets worse.
Please keep us informed ifyou hear anymore from Barb.

Yes, keep an eye on your temp and don't let it get too high. You are so right about these things having terrible timing - either happening on the weekend or in the evening after hours. The only thing I can think of is if there are any walk in acute care clinics around you that are open on the weekend so you could avoid an ER visit. But if you live in a more rural area like me, they don't have any of those around.

I'm not sure why us lupies seem so prone to bladder infections, but we are. It stinks that you have to deal with this, especially on the weekend. How is your ear doing? Hang in there and keep us updated.

Love and hugs

Carol, Just wanted to let you know I do the same thing & when I'm tested it is never a infection. But please do watch your temp. I believe when I do this it has more to do with my bowels than my bladder. My bowels is what went haywire to the point of knowing something was bad wrong with me. I guess I had lived with the aches so long that it was just like normal. You do need to let your doc know about this but since it is the weekend you may want to think about if your bowels are normal. I know this is gross but I always thought it was normal to have BM once a wk until it started being even longer. I just thought I would post this just in case it could help you. I do know the pain is miserable. I really don't think the meds have anything to do with it because I was like this continuelly until I started the meds & even now have them at times. If I was you I would drink water. My gyno gave me papers at one point & for bladder they recomended staying away from cran-b juice. ( I know I was allways taught to drink cb-juice for this!) I hope you get to feeling better!

Hi Hippi and BHK, thanks for the input. Actually I still feel the same nbut my temp has gone down. So I guess that's a good thing. Hippi I live in a rural area like you do. They have one little clinic in this town and it's not even open during the week half the time. My ear is a little better than yesterday. Who knows maybe I'm working on some kind of virus with this problem with feeling like I have an ear infection and bladder infection. It may be linked together. Just somthing my body is trying to kick.

BHK, that's really interesting about the same pain and it being your bowels. I used to have weeks like you with only one BM. I still can go 3 days without one. I do keep a jug of water in the fridge but I really am not a big water drinker. I know I should drink more. I need to do some reserch on the c-berry juice. I was always told to drink it. Now you got my interest peaked.

Thanks again for the advise and info
hugs

I found this article on WebMD about cranberry juice. It kinda' comes from both directions -- drinking it is helpful, but drinking too much is not!

www.webmd.com/news/20000914/cranberry-cure

I usually take my evening pills w/cran-apple juice -- no caffeine, not carbonated, and just enough flavor to cover the nastiness that happens if my Trazadone starts dissolving too soon! No UTI's in quite a while....

Hi--
I have chronic bladder problems, seems like when prednisone wears off it's worst. Anyway, I was told too to avoid cranberry juice because the acid outweighs the benefit, which really was bad because I like it. Anyway, diet soda is really bad because of the sweetener, nutrasweet. Water is good. My grandmother used to make parsley water by boiling water, putting parsley in it, then putting it in the frig. The parsley took any weird taste out of the water. I hope you feel better soon. I know you must be hurting. I'm going through a similar thing, no fever, kidneys aching and fullness. My urologist looked inside my bladder and told me that there was an infection in the bladder floor, that's why the feeling of fullness and having to empty all the time and feeling like I'm not emptying enough, because your bladder holds a reserve, and when the bladder floor gets irritated, the reserve causes the bladder to hurt. Also there is supposed to be a mucus lining that separates the urine from the bladder wall and sometimes it gets damaged. i know in part diet is responsible or at least dietary changes usually have to be made to fix it. Why are humans so fragile these days? What have we done to our planet, ourselves?
Love, Marji

I've never even tried cranberry juice, and thankfully have never had a UTI or a bladder infection, but this thread reminded me of the retirement facility where my parents used to live - nearly every sweet little old woman there had a glass of cranberry juice with her meals. It was a large facility that had a nutritionist on staff, so they obviously believed in the benefits.

Carol, I'm glad you temp has gone down and now let's just hope you feel better real soon.

Thanks Lynnwood, Marji, and Pat, I actually feel better tonight with the bladder. I drank tons of water. I have water setting next to me right now.

Lynnwood thank you for the article. I'm going to send it on to some of my female friends. I thought it was quite informative. Except for the part that said to urinate after sex. I don't know about most women but there is no way I can do that for at least an hour LOL. Marji, my doctor said I have a tipped bladder so I know what you are saying about having a reserve. I have to move around in different positions to releive all of it. That was very interesting about the Parsley. I never heard of anything like that. I might just have to try that. I rent a reverse osmosis because my water here is just awful.

Patty you know now that you mention it. I have been given cranberry juice with a lot of meals when I'm in the hospital. I hope you are enjoy this oklahoma weather.

love  ya all

carol

Hi Carol. :-)

How is the weather down there is OK now?  I know it is a recent move for you.  Here in St. Louis it has been quite comfortable the past few days (mid 70s).

I have the same symptoms from time to time with my bladder and it does cause pain a the upper part of my inner thighs, etc.  I have a condition of microscopic hematuria which means most of the time some kind of inflammation in my bladder.  My urologist says to drink lots of water (until you are peeing clear liquid almost as clear as the water you drank) and that way you know you are drinking enough.  I asked him about the cranberry juice theory and he didn't say one way or the other if it really helps but did tell me about the cranberry pills you can buy so for those of thus that are sensitive to tastes, pills are much better.  I also keep a box of Uristat or Pyrdium on hand at home in case problems appear so you can catch them when they start and can start treatment before it gets bad.  The Uristat is over the counter and works as good as a prescription.  It's like a number/muscle relaxer specifically for the bladder.  Most of the time I have bladder symptoms but don't develop a full fledged infection and it is nice to be able to take something to get rid of the symptoms.  Does any of this help?  I hope so.  I seem to be rambling.  Sorry.

Hope you are feeling much better now.

Hi Diane, Yes it helps alot! and to have someone know about the pain in the upper part of my thighs actually makes me feel better. Not that I'm glad you have it just that you know what I'm talking about. Most of the time I don't have a full blown infection either. It just feels like one. I really appreciate the info about the uristat. I can see where a muscle relaxor for the bladder would have a benefit. You wern't rambling at all I got alot of help from your post . thank you so much!
weather here is pretty good a little more humid than I am used to. It's my first spring here. Before it was arizona for 23 years. With the humidity of about 3 LOL.

Huge hugs
