sad This costocondtiris is like nothing else!!!! sad sad Some of you talked about feeling like you were having a heart attack just to learn that you had costo. I thought the pain in my chest was radiating to my back but actually it's my back that's in agony. When the doc pressed on my spine, we discovered that the inflammed cartlidge is all along my spine, but only on the left side. The pain in my chest is also on my left side. But there's no relief for my back. I've tried pain killers, a hot bath, muscle relaxants, and finally I borrowed a heat wrap from my daughter that she uses for cramps. But this is just taking my breath away. And it won't let me sleep. Thankfully everyone here will get up and go their own way in the morning and I'll be able to sleep as late as I want.

My poor hubby felt so bad tonight because he can't touch me anywhere. He so sweet and tries to comfort me but everytime he'd put his arm around me or rub my back I'd recoil from the pain.

I just don't know what to do other than take more pain meds, but I'm always so careful not to overdo it. Oh well. It seems that we all have our moments, don't we.

Who treats you guys for costo? Your PCP or your rheumy? My pcp diagnosed it but seems like since it's inflamation my rheumy should treat it. My pcp asked me if I wanted any NSAIDs for it and I said no because they chew up my stomach. I guess I'll call my rheumy on Monday.

Someone please tell me what you do to get relief from this.

The relief I have is being able to communicate with someone in the middle of the night! Thanks friends.

Love,

Pat

Hi Pat, I'm sorry you are hurting so bad. I don't have costro but from what I understand if you get no releif from antiinflamatories like aleve, you may need to go to the ER if you are hurting this bad. They may need to give you and antibiotic and a steroid shot to help releive the pain. If you hurt that bad I wouldn't wait until tomorrow. Please take care and go get some help.

love and prayers

Thanks so much Sheryl and Carol. Just a little clarification - when I said that everyone here will get up and go their own way, I meant everyone in my house - not everyone on the forum. :) I hope you both feel better too. Carol, have we seen the last of the rain? I honestly believe it's global warming.

Happy Sunday

I am sorry you were feeling such pain. I have had that feeling before and at the age of 32 I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. It is quite simply a crushing pain. For a while mine was so bad it was making me dizzy. My rheumy felt I had inflammation in the tissue between each rib and the pain was radiating up my chest. I did get relief from NSAIDS and thankfully have not had any pain in a while. Hope you feel better!

Thanks Babs and Citygirl,

You told me what I wanted to hear Citygirl, and that is that yours went away. I have never taken NSAIDs because everything gives me heartburn and chews up my hiatus hernia which sends me to the er, but in this case I think I'll try it. Anything to get some relief from this. Babs, you're always so supportive of me and everyone else and through this pain it felt good to see your kind words. I do plan to call my rheumy in the morning. Bless you guys for being there for me. Has anyone heard from hippi? I'm afraid she's going into a bad flare.

have a good night all.

Babs, thanks for asking. His symptoms are worsening again and we're going to Baylor School of Medicine in Houston to see the best movement neurologist in this part of the country. His appointment is this coming Thursay. I just hope they can tell us what's going on with my sweet hubby. His headaches are back too and that's really the worst part. We can all empathize about pain, can't we. I'll be sure to let you know how things go as soon as we return.

Love,

Pat

Thanks so much, Babs. My son and his fiance live in Houston so I want to stay on and spend a little time with them. Then it will seem more like a little vacation. Jack and I are both going to be ok. I feel it in my bones. It's just going to take a while.

Love and hugs to you to Babs,

Pat
