I weaned completely off of steroids today.  I am running a low grade temp 99.7 and have mild joint pain.  Could a person possible flare on cellcept 2000mg a day,  Imuran 100mg a day and plaquenil 400mg a day?  I am worried because I have had a MRSA infection while on the prednisone.  I pray it is not recurring!  On the bright side;  I am not having any symptoms of cerebritis...Thank God!

I think it is possible to flare on any medication. I continued to flare while taking plaquenil and methotrexate as well as plaquenil and Imuran. I hope it is not a reoccurance for you.

Hi Judy, I'm glad you were able to get off the pred. Boy I hate that stuff. On the other hand fever, pain (mild or not) is not a good sign. Since I'm sure you still have pred left in your body I am concerned it will get worse quickly. I don't think there is anything in the world that can stop of flare that is intent on happening. If there was we would all be on it. You need to take it easy for a few days until your body is really working with/o the steroids. On the other hand MRSA is can be very serious as I am sure you know. My son picked it up when he was in Iraq. I hope that isn't giving you more problems. If you are still running a temp in the morning it might be wise to contact your doctor to possibly head off a problem.

Let us know how you are feeling tomorrow

God bless

I think I am actually getting a "butterfly" rash. I have never had one at all. My cheeks and across the bridge of my nose are blood red with round dots. It doesn't itch or hurt. It's actually up between my eye brows a little bit too. My temp is now 100.7. I know I have been extremely tired and lethargic. Say a prayer! God Bless
Judy

Judy,

I agree that it's possible to flare even on all the strong meds you are taking. I'm so sorry you aren't able to take prednisone because as much as I hate it, it helps ward off flares.

I hope your rheumy can help you. Please report back to us and let us know how you're feeling. I'll sure be thinking about you Judy.

Hi, Judy. I'm pretty new to this forum, but I have unfortunately had my share of problems with the prednisone. I'm sorry you're feeling bad so soon, I know all too well how that mean medicine can disappoint you! I'm sure you can flare even with the other strong medicines in your system. They have tried several things with me and nothing has ever helped but the prednisone. I'm not saying that will be the case for you, but I know how powerful the prednisone really is. I hope you can get with your doctor soon and get this resolved.

Judy, I'm really sorry you are going through this. How exciting to get off of prednisone only to end up getting sick. With your temp continuing to go up, I think you should call your rheumu ASAP and see what he/she thinks. You very well could be flaring or something else might be going on. Either way, you probably need to get checked out. I really hope your doc can help get this sorted out and help you get some relief.

Same here. I would call the PCP/Rheumy right away. Sounds like a malar rash and the rest sounds like flare material to me. I know I wouldn't want to go through a flare after getting my hopes up, but first things first. I think getting off or on medication sometimes makes the body work a little harder than it usually does, thus possibly causing a flare. I would be real cautious with this. For all we know it may be the flu or something. Still, better safe than sorry.

Hope you feel better soon - Kristin

Judy, It does sound like a flare. Gosh I am so sorry, like Hippi said, to finally get off the Pred and your body to rebound on you. I hope you can get some much needed help from your doc so you can fight this thing so it doesn't get out of control. My thoughts are with you.

Hey y'all!  Thank you all for your kind thoughts and support.  I am definitely flaring!  I had to go back up to 50mg on the prednisone and then decrease by 10mg every 7 days.  My kidney function is declining.  Have to recheck my protein level in the a.m.  Thanx again for your thoughtfulness and concern.  God Bless All,
