Hi everyone, I'm a 16 year old with Lupus. Visiting the forum after a while. But I was wondering...
I have been (told to) decrease pred. And now am at 15mg everyother day (I was at 60mg a day 2 years's been a long path)..I'm also on 1000mg of cellcept twice a day, and 50mg of topiramate as well as some vitamins and stuff...
I know normally I wouldn't be worried about losing weight, but latley when I go to the hospital (the only time I get weighed) the doctors/nurses/fellows/etc. have been getting annoying/confused. My weight keeps dropping, although I eat the regular 3 meals a day and don't OVER excercise. They've been sending people from adolescent medicine, trying to get me to 'fess up about being annorexic (which I AM NOT) It makes me angry..
Today they decreased the Topiramate (apparently a known side-effect is weight loss) but I'm still confused.. I'm really not sure what I'm doing.. because the doctors think it's more than just that...
This upsets me, but nobody really seems to understand that I'm not doing this on purpose. In fact, anymore weightloss and I'm going on a feeding tube (which is scary for me since I've never done it before).
I have a pretty good energy amount/blood pressure so I'm really confused.

Before I was diagnosed with Lupus, I was losing weight rapidly and I hadn't changed anything I was doing. After getting diagnosed and starting on medicine, the weight loss stopped. Maybe it has something to do with your Lupus? Hopefully you won't have to have a feeding tube! Take care!

Thanks =) I was losing weight before being diagnosed with Lupus as well... It's what sparked all the tests. I didn't even think about that though, I'll have to ask my family doctor or rheumy I guess.

Rube: You like falling, do ya?
Betty: Well, it's not the fallin', it's the jumpin'.
Rube: I'd feel a whole lot better about the jumpin' if it weren't for the fallin'.
Betty: Fallin's easy, you just fall. Jumping involves strength of will.
Rube: Unless you're on a plank
