Sunday and Monday were two of the best days I've had in two years, so tried to live a normal life again, and today my body is reminding me that I just can't do that. sad It's so darn discouraging. I feel like crying but I know that getting depressed won't do any good at all, but I feel so sad today. From my neck down I feel as though I were dipped in hot oil. My joints are red and swollen and my poor right hand looks and feels like a steam roller ran over it.

I haven't done anything extraordinary. Sunday I woke up with so much energy that I baked a coffee cake, and went to the grocery store. Some of the kids came over to swim in the afternoon and brought friends with them so I put out a simple meal for them and took a dip in the pool. Yesterday I worked in my home office, cleaning out files etc. and went back to the grocery store. And that's it.

I guess the good news is that I was reminded what it feels like to have energy and joy and to be able to really interact with my children again. Today, though, I'm back to the couch. I don't think my hands will even let me knit today so I'm having a little bit of a pity party. I have to keep reminding myself to take it easy when I have a good day every now and then.

How on earth do you working gals do it?

:-) Here's to a better week ahead for all of us.

Hi Patty, I'm so sorry. I know you said you were doing good. I just wish these things would last longer than a couple of days. I am getting ready to run out the door. i have to be somwhere in 10 min. I just wanted to shout to you real fast and send you huge hugs. I'll check back in when I come home and see how you are doing. You try to rest and watch a comedy or something on t.v. that you can relax and laugh about.

love ya

Well, if you don't mind, I'll join in on the cry/pity party.  I am having a terrible time with nausea this last week and just feel horrid all around.  Dh is in a foul mood...which is upsetting me, and normally I would just snap back a smart comment and joke.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well Pat. {{Hugs}}  It's so emotional to have a couple of good days, only to have that taken from you the next.  I don't think any of us get used to dealing with that aspect of things.

Let's have our party today, and then tomorrow start fresh. :-)    Stay inside too, it's hot in OK today!

(((Pat))) I'm so sorry for your setback. I can understand how it is discouraging to have those couple of days and really enjoy them and back to feeling bad. I'm hoping that this is just a small setback for you and that you can get back to feeling good again. I'm keeping you in my thoughts.

:-)  Hi Patty, Well i just got home a short time ago and wanted to check in on you. I hope you were able to get some rest and have a little better frame of mind. I know it's hard not to get depressed when you come crashing down after feeling so good. I wish I had an answer for it. Is the cymbalta for depression? How long have you been on it? Does it seems to work good normally? Have I asked enough questions yet? Did you make an appt to see your doctor? It sounds like you may have to increase some meds for awhile.

You know I love ya

Carol, Jeannie, and Des, Thanks for your much needed messages. I always need and appreciate your friendships, but when I'm feeling low it makes such a difference to hear from you guys. I took an extra 2.5mg of prednisone this morning and by early afternoon my fever went away and my aches and pains started to get better. I even got out this afternoon for a while.

You were right Des when you described it as a small setback. I know better than to overdo it.

Jeannie, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad too. I think nausea is the worse symptom I ever get and fortunately I don't get it very often. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

Carol, I take cymbalta for depression, but depression is not what I was feeling this morning. It was more like discouragement. I get so frustrated when I can't do whatever I want to do without suffering the consequence. I need to be more careful because my rheumy wants me to get off prednisone.

My granddaughters are spending the evening with us and they're in the shower so I thought I'd get on for a minute. Thanks for your thoughts.

Love,

Pat

Hi Pat--
Been absent lately, not feeling terrific due to extreme heat and sun. I got so disgusted, I started going out at night just to be outside. This sun sensitivity is for the birds. I'm sorry you were so sore and bummed out. I had a good day on Sunday and Monday too, wrote alot and did great writing, then bam, today, just can't get it together. Mind just not able to put it together, itching all over, sick, hurting, nauseaus and just sick of the inside of my house. I'm glad to hear you are doing better. I don't have any doc visits until sept or oct so no hope of any improvement, they all think my sensitivity is sort of weird like, why it hurts my eyes. But you know docs. I'm gald your pred is working and you feel better and have company and are doing better.
Love, Marji

Hi Patty, I just wanted to check up on ya and see if you are feeling better. A storm rolled thru here about 3:oo am. Woke me up out of a sound sleep. The concert is tonight and I havn't been able to get back to sleep for 3 hours! I went to church last night and when I went to lift my arms in worship they were really sore and aching. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I have just a few more things I have to do before I get sick again. Does that sound stupid or what tongue .?
Anyway get lots of rest and keep us updated

Hi Des,

I'm hurting and stiff so I took a little extra prednisone. I'm not tired like I usually am though and that's wonderful. I'm getting a massage this morning and I hope that will help me get over some of this pain I'm having. Even though I'm hurting, I feel like I continue to improve because I'm having more good days than I used to.

You're sweet to ask, Des. It's so nice to wake up to a friend asking about me.

I have to feel better today so I can root Carol on while she gets on those sexy jeans and cowgirl hat and goes to the concert tonight. Carol, I'm sorry you didn't sleep well last night. Do you think it was excitement about meeting a cowboy tonight???? :)

You're a sweetheart, Des. Thanks.

Pat, Im really sorry to hear you have been going through a rough time. Are things any better yet? I can really relate to that frustrated feeling. It is really frustrating that just trying to live a "normal" life and doing normal everyday things can put us into a flare. It stinks that even on good days we have to rest and conserve energy. I still haven't completely learned my lesson about that yet.

Jeannie, I hope you are getting some relief. Carol, I hope you were able to enjoy your big night out. I haven't read through all the posts yet, so maybe you posted something about it that I haven't gotten to yet. I missed everyone and am glad to be back.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and concerns. I'm doing ok but trying so hard to refrain from taking any pain meds because they make me so tired and lethargic. I'm not always successful, but am doing better than I was before. If I work throught the pain in the morning, take a long soak in my tub, and rest, I usually feel good in the afternoon, so it's kind of like getting my life back for a few hours a day. I love it. Am getting my daughter ready for her first apartment and she leaves for college next weekend. It has been fun even though it's tiring. I'm really going to miss her but I think she'll come home a lot on the weekends.

I can't complain because I know that what I'm going through is the story of all of our lives. I'm keeping my chin up and I hope you guys can too. What helps the most is when you friends reach out to me. I only hope I can be as good a friend to you.

Love you guys,

Pat

Pat,
I'm glad your getting a little break from the pain in the evenings for awhile....(((hugs))). I hope the pain gets better for and whole day soon.
I'm sure your daughter will do well in college and her new apartment. It's hard to let go of our kids when they grow up... :-) .

Sounds like my week last week also. I had three great days (mon, tues- wed) and I get up Thursday morning and I think a mack truck ran me over while I slept
I was down for the count. Then Last Friday comes and my stomach issues kicked it. It was like an all around knockem sockem party. I was dizzy, sore, nauseous, head heavy and the most fun was the none stop diarrhea. Oh come on ppl, how much more fun could I have asked for...haha!
And yes Patty, trying to work in this state is really tough, but when you have no choice, you have to do what you have to do.
I was at work both days belly aching and feeling miserable. My coworkes are going to gag me one of these days ;-)
I pretty much slept the whole weekend to recover.
A rich husband or a lottery win would come in pretttttttttttty handy right about now :-)

Hope you recover quickly :-)

Jen, I'm sorry you had such a rough week. I know just what you mean about the mack truck. There's one that drives through my bedroom several times a week. I wish I could shoot the driver right between his eyes!

I'll cross my fingers and hope you win the lottery. If you do, you'll get a husband pretty quick because men will be coming out of the woodwork. :)

I'm so sorry you have to work while feeling this way and hope this is a better week for you.

Love,

Pat

Babs, thanks for your kind words. It really is hard to let go of our kids and my daughter and I are so close. I think this is going to be a better year for her than last year was. It has been harder for her to leave home that it was for my sons.

I hope you have a good week Babs,

Love,

Hi Patty, I am so sorry you are still feeling poorly. I was hoping you were doing better by now. Of course with the daughter moving out that has to be very hard for you too. I have a step daughter but she never lived with me. I always wanted a girl but it wasn't to be. It's hard for me that my son is so far away. I think I would want to take my daughter and lock her in a closet until she was 40!
I do understand the way the pain pills make ya feel. Than you have to take more steroids just to get up and moving! I've really backed off my pain meds but your right sometimes it ain't easy. I know you have alot going on and you don't want to rest just yet but try to get some down time. Your daughter knows your needs she will understand. Boy we just can't stand not being supermom can we?????

I'm feeling pretty good my knee quit hurting. I have been fairly active but I get tired pretty easy. I was setting on a bench at church last night and I moved. Boy that hurt from my tailbone all the way up my back. I guess that's probably old age though!!!!!!!!!

You take care of yourself and I wish your daughter all the best on her new journey!
love ya

Hi Pat,

Sorry...I've been an absent friend lately. It sounds like you've been managing your pain in a way that's working for you so you can "be there" for your daughter during these last days that she's home. I so understand that! I'm glad you've found a good balance; just be sure if it starts getting out of balance that you back off a little bit.

I'm thinkin of you and wishing your daughter much success,

xoxo emmie

Hope you are doing better. My RA is bad today because my Enbrel is due. I saw my rheumy and she was really impressed with everything but cautioned slow on the approved exercise. We have to remember that we need to take it slow no matter how we feel- I forget this frequently. I wish they had some kind of monitoring system that could alert us when we need to take a break or are nearing the limit of what our bodies can handle.

Hey Carol, I've been thinking about you too. I haven't posted in a couple of days but I've read some of the posts and saw yours about the skin and vein problems you're having. I hope your new rheumy is better than your old one and that he can figure out what's going on with you. Your ANA is really high! You poor thing....no wonder you feel so bad.

It's Thursday and the sun's out, but I'm hurting anyway. I think it will get better as the day goes on. We had a flood in our house on Saturday night and I've been so busy dealing with it. I have another meeting today at 10:00 and I'm tired of dealing with it. There are other things that have hit as well and I'm just kind of overwhelmed at the moment. I like my Thursdays when I can rest. But I'll get through it.

Thanks for asking, Carol. I'll do some more posting later. For now I think I'll stretch out for a few minutes.

Love,

Pat

Pat, like the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours". I'm sorry you are getting struck by all of this at once. Dealing with insurance is never ever a simple thing and is always stressful. Everything that has happened to you would be hard on a healthy person. I don't blame you for feeling overwhelmed. I don't know why all these things seem to happen at once. At our house our clothes dryer is dead, now our dishwasher is making weird noises and our fairly new van just neede a costly repair.

Were you able to rest today at all? I imagine it's a little harder to really rest like you need to when you have so much going on. Please try to take care of yourself.

Love and hugs
