I asked my rheumy if it was okay to take Pepcid when I take my Plaquenil and he said go ahead he didn't have a problem with it at all. Well I tried it this morning and guess what! No acid feeling, no pains, no cramps ... nothing!!! I think this might be the route to go. I ended up buying Walmart's generic Pepcid, 30 pills for under $6.00. Not a bad investment!! Thought I'd pass on the info in case anyone is having difficulties with Plaquenil and their stomach.

Hi Gidget . . . I was taking some meds for GERD a few years back and my doc said that it was fine as long as the two were not taken in the same dose. In other words, wait an hour or two after the Pepcid to take your other meds. Something to do with ant-acid blocking absorption of the other meds. Just a thought.

SO glad the pepcid helped!!! I hope it is still as effective if you try taking them spaced.

Blessings!

I'll try that tomorrow Rosie. I hope it does help taking it that way.

Two days now I've taken the Pepcid, then an hour later took the Plaquenil and it's working great. I didn't even eat this morning and didn't have a problem.

BTW I talked to two pharmacists and both said that it's okay to take with the plaquenil. I wonder if this is a personal opinion about taking it earlier than the plaquenil or maybe something we need to check into more.

Hi Gidget. It may be how the pepcid it works. Some of this stuff is an antacid and some is a proton pump inhibitor. I would listen to the pharmacist because they know more about the meds than the docs do. Glad you checked that out. I bet its the antacids that should be taken apart from our meds.

Blessings!

In either case whether it's taken an hour before or at the same time it still works, which is very good news!
