what is kefir???

I am sorry if this has been asked before but what is kefir? I keep hearing this word and have no idea what it is?
UCTD Plaquenil 400 mg and  Diclofenac 150 mg on really bad days Tylenol Arthritis.  and omega 3 with Moducare supplements

Hi hun, short discription is it's sort of like yogurt only better in my opinion. It has live cultures which are good for your tummy.

oh okay thanks kindly, must be a USA thing as I don't think I have seen that in CDA

Hello Canuckgirl,
If you decide to make your own kefir, make sure to find Kefir Grains . . . not starter culture.  The grains will give you a forever supply of Kefir.  You simply place the grains (they look like curds from cottage cheese, only they are firmer) in a glass jar/container and pour in milk.  Then set that on the counter for about 24 hours.  Shake, then strain, and you'll have made kefir.  It tastes better if it "rests" in the fridge for another day.
Making it yourself gives you the MOST active culture.  WAY more than any purchased product.  The link will answer any question you can think of. 
Kefir tastes like tart buttermilk.  You can drink it straight (I do) or you can mix it with fruit to make a smoothy.  But you don't want to heat it because you'll kill the culture.
