Has anyone else had trouble with their ears?...as in, rushing, roaring sound in one ear or both and a full feeling in ears which interferes with hearing?  I have CNS lupus and have experienced this lately, off and on.  Some days are bad with the ear problem and sometimes not at all.  Also, I have Rosacea on my face, mainly my nose, and haven't gotten w/ a dermatologist yet because my previous one moved away.  I know these are fairly trivial but wondered how many have problems w/ them.  My derm. told me that the outbreak on my face was not lupus, but rosacea.
Thanks for any input.
Nan

Hi Nan! I have not experienced the ear problems you describe. I hope someone comes along soon to share their experience related to this. I also have not had my doctor tell me my rashes were rosacea, either. I would try for a second opinion on that one. What does your rhuemy say about your rash?
Prayers,
Audrey Ann

Hi Nan,
I have constant ringing and roaring in my ears, mostly the left one. I can barely hear out of that ear. My balance has been messed up for 8 years now with the constant ringing. It drove me crazy for a long time but, in my case, nothing has helped.
I have had Lupus CNS problems as well. I'm scheduled to have another brain MRI on the 27th. This will be about my 15th in the last 8 years.
Please stay on your doctors about this. My equallibirum in permantely damaged. I hope you get some relief soon. Take care and keep us updated. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Nan,

I have been dealing with the ring in my ears for years. Even been tested alot, but to came to find out it is because of my meds. I was reading about the side effects and ringing in the ears is one of them. My rash is also, from rosacea and not lupus. The dermatogist told me that if you have light skin and blue eyes, you are a number one canadate to get rosacea.

Thanks, frank

Thank you all for your replies !  Babs, the ringing is in my left ear also and forgot to mention that I had an "attack" of vertigo a month or so ago and was sick afterward.  Fortunately, that hasn't happend again.  But, the ear problem definitely causes a feeling of unbalance and light headedness and a decrease in what I can hear.  Right now it is much better, but seems to come and go.  I had an MRI this past summer (which was not for the ear prob.) but may have to have another.  Frank, I do have light skin but green eyes....and right now a red nose !! Thanks to you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving.  Nan

Hi Caring, first of all there is nothing (minor) when it comes to a chronic illness and trying to understand it. The more we know the better we can treat it and if we can't get treatment at least we can know that we are not alone with the symptoms and some how that tends to reduce a little stress. (carol jumps off soap box) lol.
Anyway I have had the dizziness to the point where I've had people reach  and catch me just before I hit the ground face first. I get alot of ringing and pressure in my left ear. I do think however I'm beginning to suffer from TMJ which someone here mentioned is comon with lupus. I had my rheumy check it several weeks ago and he said there was nothing wrong with it. Of course he was looking for an infection. He asked me if I stuck anything in it and I said Yeah my elbow! yeah
Anyway I hope you can get to the bottom of it and share your finding with us.
hugs
carol

Thanks for all your comments.  It's difficult to know when a symptom is related to Lupus or something else.   My ear problem has improved since I took a two week regimen of an antibiotic, so it's possible that there was some infection in the ear.  Or, it could just be coincidental that the pressure, noise, etc. in the ear & veritigo, have lessened.  I have noticed that symptoms sometimes come and go no matter what we do.  I was diagnosed w/ CNS Lupus in the early eighties when I had a life threatening episode  and have been rather lucky since then, but seem to be having more problems lately.  Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving.    Nan
