All right, this has been a good month as far as pain goes on my last, I think. The funny thing is that now I seem less able to concentrate. I get hit by dizziness at the weirdest times and I wonder if there is a better way to deal with all this mess. I wanted to ask if it s really important to take your plaquenil twice a day or if I can take the whole dose  perscribed daily at once. I seem to have a real trouble taking that second dose and well some of my trouble may be due to skipped doses of it. The tickling in my chest has finally taken a hike. yeah The rhemy started me on Prednisone. Which I take with reluctance. I hate taking so many meds...I feel like a druggie. I also am concerned about how this affects my kindneys. skull With the addition of predinisone I have a literal paharmacy at home... tongue I wonder is it bad to have to take several Aleves a day to deal with pain... it works but is there a better way?

Hi Tasha, You should ask your doctor about the plaquenil but I can tell you that I take 800mg and I take it all in the morning. veryone is different though so I would hesitate to tell you it's ok.

As for the pain you may be surprised to find you aren't having as much pain with the predisone. It works wonders for inflamation. Try it for awhile and see if maybe you can back off of some of the aleve. All though I do beleive that aleve is one of the safer drugs as far as your kidneys go. How much pred. did your doctor put you on? I take 5mg a day unless I am in alot of pain. If I am I try to 10mg. up to 15mg and it usually kicks the pain quite well within a few hours.

Lupus by itself can cause some of the problems with forgetting but you might try putting your meds in a pill box and setting beside your toothbush or night stand.

I'm glad you have been feeling better!

Hi Tasha,

Re: the plaquenel . . . you really need to ask your doc . . . but mine have allowed me to take mine all at once or space thru the day. I'm taking 3/day now. It sounds like a good idea to take it all at once if its ok with the doc and your stomach can tolerate it. You could also ask your pharmacist.

I feel the same way about meds . . . but I'm no longer willing to tolerate all the pain, stiffness and other symptoms . . so I take meds seriously, but I take what I need.

The Aleeve question would be another good one for the pharmacist. If you catch them when they aren't overwhelmed with waiting orders, they are a great resource.

I take 5mgs daily and it does help with the gummy eyes and tickling lungs...the pain well it kinda helps.I have to take about four Aleves to kick it down enough. I already have stomach issues with Gerd so I rarely pay it much mind...Thing with me is I will ignore most pain until I can barley move so this is not really major, its just there thing. Before they gave me the GERD dx I was puking acid everyday trying to treat it with TUMs. lol...I must be crazy. So pain is just expected...
