I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease after 5 days of symptoms (swollen knee was first then came skin tingling).  After a month of Doxy (200mg) I felt better. A month later I was sick again. I am currently on 400mg Doxy (almost 3 weeks now).  I am feeling pretty darn good. I am even planning on going back to the gym next week.  I am on Doxy for 30 days. Should I go back to my doc and ask for a couple more weeks giving me 6 full weeks of Doxy or just go off and see how it goes? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hi bailyeygirl76.  It is great you are feeling better!

From what I understand, an infection caught within two weeks of the bite should be treated with a minimum of six weeks of the proper dose antibiotic.  200 mg of Doxy is not in the range for Lyme.  Since you did not start the correct dose for a month, my guess (I am not a medical professional) is that you need longer treatment than six weeks.

I highly recommended making sure you treat this long enough.  Early infections are the easiest to cure.  It is much more difficult to eradicate the infection once it becomes disseminated.  Are you being grated by a Lyme doctor now?
