I got lyme in 04. I found the tick on me and I got very ill and they put on doxy for 60 days. But I was still sick. I have bounced around to so many Dr.s here in the USA and even went to Germany and tried the medicines there. But still I got worse. I will not bore you with all of my symptoms for I have all of them. The pain is too much, but I have masked them with cymbalta some. The neurological problems, the now bi ploar, and the panic attacks have been masked some with Lamictal. But no cure for the memory loss and forgetting people's face's day to day or the darn headaches. I use to be a fast talking, funny, successful developer, now if I can finish a sentence I am having a good day. Good thing I am a tall blond with a big chest, so people do not expect too much from me..lol
I am tired off all the abx, and all the stomach problems and not getting any better. I am now trying Homeopathic Medicine in Scottsdale Arizona. I will be here for 8 weeks. It is a interesting way to fight lyme. They take out my blood and clean it with IV rays it and then put it back in me all foamed up and clean. They also give me pints of other natural things to help my immune system to fight off the lyme itself.
I have been doing the treatment for one week now. I have gladly noticed that my headache are gone for now. But that is all for now. I am going to get a port put into my chest next week so that this process will not be so hard on my arms. They have put me on a strict diet. No junk, and luckily for me, I have been eating very healthy for years now. So this is not hard for me to do. I have come to believe that abx alone will not kill this virus. Because I have taken too many of them. So this is the new thing that I am going to try.
Many of the people that are here are fighting cancer. So this is about working with the body. It detoxifies the body on a cellular level and the treatment is to improve my immune system and naturally repair and rebuild organ systems. It is all new to me. But at this point I am in the mood to try something that does not make me so darn sick all of the time. I am tired of being drugged like some sort of lab rat.
This makes sense to me. Helping my body get strong to fight this thing. I can only drink water. Which is fine. My body is going to be given the chance to get detoxed and try to fight this thing. With all of the money I have waisted on all of my fancy Dr.s this one seems to be a healthy alternative for a change. I have nothing to lose for trying. Nothing else has worked. And I do not want to lose my family like I have lost my job and lively hood.

hi martha's vineyard, sounds like you've been through quite a lot....  if you're interested in a more "herbal" approach, check out the cowden protocol.

you can google it....  these herbs are produced by www.nutramedix.com ... they make excellent herbal tinctures that really help with lyme.  i've had very good success with them, especially for the brain fog thing.  everyone is different, but it's definitely worth looking into.  a very prominent lyme doctor recommends using these tinctures for those who have done abx treatments.  they also help detox the sytem as well as treat the micro organisims....

worth checking out....  i can vouche for them.....  good luck....

lyme, babs, ehrl. - who knows what else.....  surrounded by woods, deer, mice, birds, dogs & cats...
no where to run.....

Hi Marthas Vineyard: I have spoken with the clinic in Scottsdale and I know the founder (Dr. K) has Lyme (did they tell you that)? I just want to say that I know how much the program costs there and they told me that it was NOT a cure and that the Lyme goes into remission and it can return at any time. I just thought you should know that as the price for me was unthinkable. If they had told me it was a CURE, I would have certainly found a way to do it. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.  D

Dowa hi,
Yes I know the founder Dr.K still suffers from Lyme. Lyme does go into remission. And that we all know. I have done all the abx that I am going to do. It did not ever kill the bacteria. And put my body into such a funk that it would not be able to kick the common cold. But from what I am hearing since I am there is different from what you think. And I am not the type of person who wastes her time or her money. They will tell you that your own body should be able to defend itself and not have all of the terrible problems that Lyme causes. No one can tell you that they have a cure all for Lyme. All of the Dr.s can only tell you that they will help you to fight the disease. And maybe you will win. The same goes with cancer. Not all recover and no Dr. can make that promise. They can only do so much, and me as the patient can only do so much. But people who have drank and smoked heavily and never taken care of themselves cannot expect to walk in anywhere and get a cure all pill.
I have friends who have had remarkable results with their cancer issues at this place. Any place that said that they can cure all are phonies. It is a very complicated ordeal. I am going to give it my all and see what happens. I do not like being in the desert for 8 weeks. But I have felt better in the last 3 days than I have in a long time. I will let you know what happens when I go off of all the band aid medications that all of my other dr.s have put me on. For I could not even go to the grocery store without dropping down with a panic attack. The average cost for someone with cronic lyme can cost over 250,000. So......this is cheap.
Flying to Germany two times and going to Wuzburg was more money than this. And I have not ended up in the emergency room with this treatment. My whole family has Lyme. All my neighbors have Lyme. I have seen it do terrible things to people. I have had yard men die of tularemia. I know what I am dealing with. Everyone must follow their own path and do as much reading as they can. There is no blue print to this disease.
Good luck and happy hunting....ask me in 30 days how I feel when I am off all of my meds and right before my period...lol..

They give your body what it needs to help it fight off the disease. They don't claim to give you drugs that will kill the disease that is in your tissues. They believe that your body can detect and kill the bacteria itself. When one takes abx the spirochett can wrap itself in a hard shell. And hide from the abx in your own cells. It is very smart. So in the mean time while you are overdosing on abx your whole immune system is suffering along with your liver. I have talked to so many people that have been on abx for over 2 years and still they are not better.
So what the answer to all of this is? I do not claim to know. I am only sharing my search with people. My goal is to find the answers so that I can cure my 5 and 12 year old. So that they will have a healthy and happy life that they deserve. And I would drink snake piss at this point if they told me it would make me feel better...lol

Martha's Vineyard,

I hear what you are saying loud and clear! I, also, would drink snake piss if I thought it would get me better. I have been doing antibiotics for 3 years now and I'm still chasing this darn illness. Good luck to you. Keep us all posted,

Well remember to ask me how I am feeling later....lol...see if I am happy...or pissed off...:>) They have also put me on a bunch of vitamins. I don't know what it is that is making me feel better. But I have been to the gym twice. One women told me that her insurance is covering it fyi...if you want you can e-mail me direct for details. They do work with you to help you cover costs. But darn, it is in the middle of the desert. And if it is not in your neighborhood or even state, then it is hard for most people.
I am just at the end of my rope, like most sufferers, and this is the coke a cola in the desert for me right now...:>)

well they use the old fashioned ones that we used before all of the antibiotic craze. Like silver. Which is tough stuff as well. I have just taken so many abx and man, I swear that I was losing my mind. I couldn't think. I was in such a fog.
I have am going on my second week here. I have to tell you that I feel better than I have in a very long time. I don't know if it is because I am off of all of the other crap. Or if because all of the stuff they are feeding my immune system with. They are putting over a pint of stuff in me 4 time a week. I get a big head rush during it. And I take alot of vitamins and stuff all day lone on my own. most of them I have to stir into water.
But I am feeling very well. sort of frisky and silly and I am running to the gym everyday. Maybe doing too much. but try telling anyone with lyme not to get out and have as much fun as they can when they feel well....because we don't listen. when never know how bad we are going to feel the next day!
oh boy..I got a wild hair and washed my dog this morning in the tub here at the hotel. he kept scratching.
I'll be darned if he did not have a deer tick on him! It washed down the tub!
yuke! I was worried about the ticks here in the desert, because of all the darn rabbits they have everywhere, and hogs. And birds.
They use some pretty powerful things. But not the regular abx. I have done all of those.

Go for it Martha's Vineyard! I've had Lyme since Nov 2003. My doc wasn't familiar so I self treated with vitamines, herbs, Organic oil tinctures. They kept me afloat until I let my diet get unhealthy plus ate bunches of chocolates. Sugar and starches really did a number on my brain and my heart! Four months of ceftriaxone with tons of vitamines and almost no sugar/starch later, I'm almost back to my old self. I think you're really on the right track. I'm inclined to believe that the body really can heal itself with the right care. Not the bandaid solution of the antibiotics - although when you've been knocked down they're great as a makeshift tourniquet!

Marthasvineyard,

I hear ya' with being sick of antibiotics - I'm right there with you after taking them for 3 years now. I will not, deny, however, that they did help me when I was at my worst. The problem is, as you have found out, they are not capable of making me totally well. So, I'm on to something new and totally different.

What happened to that German doctor you were working with...the one that used diflucan in rotation with antibiotics. I thought you felt that protocol was working for you????

I sure hope things go well for you out there in the dessert. What is the name of the clinic you are at? What kind of docs are there? Are they MD's, Naturopaths, chiropractors, etc???? Would love to know.

My best to you,

keep us all posted,

Thanks girls! I need all of the positive energy for sure. I was happy to see how much the diet has to do with getting better. And the people who had drinking problems and who now have lyme. Poor things, they are really suffering a lot.
I am getting a port put into my chest tomorrow. The IV's in the arms and all of the stuff that they give me 4 times a week. Is really hard on the veins. But I am looking forward to getting it. It will take about two hours or so. And the people are so supportive and know so much about about Lyme for a change.
It does knock me on my butt afterwards. No gym for me now. I feel light headed and sleepy. But I am only on week two now.
I have read alot about 'silver' and treating blood with uv rays.
This is not a fast process and no quick pill like my german meds were. Which by the way, I was really losing it on my 2nd round. I had to send my kids to one of their fathers and was going to be commited. So crap,
I heard that they have more places like this around the usa. I will ask where the others are. There was some big deal that is coming out for lyme too. But I was so high at the time that they were talking about it....I didn't really understand what they were saying...lol...I will let you know.

Envita in Scottsdale.
I did the german dr.s drugs once and then syptoms came back. then he told me to do it again. so i did. but half way through it i was losing it. i got really suicidal. and then my dr. wanted to put me in a physco ward. I have to get my kids away from me, I was not able to think, it was very frightening. when i called my x husband he called his intern and when he found out what i was taking he was furious with me.
i really needed to get off of everything and cleanse myself. i am doing some iv stuff now. it is not just vitamins. but i have dr.s all around me and i am being closey monitered and watch and looked after not just popping pills on my own..which did not work for me...lol
i was really depressed that the german meds did not work for me. and i did try it again, but i got bi polar on all of the stuff, and almost killed myself. sooooooooooooo
