My daughter has purple circles under her eyes. At times they are very light. When she feels bad they get worse. In June they were very dark. In the last two days they have been getting darker. She was dx two years ago with lyme. Meds are Unisom IV 4 times a day, Fagel IV 3 times a day, Mepron in J-tube 2 times a day. Plus many other meds for heart, thyroid, gastro parisis, sleep problems. I could use any info ya'll can give.

Dear firefly16's Mom,

Welcome to the forum!  I'm not sure this will help since I am not familiar with your case, but I know that food allergies can cause dark circles under the eyes.  Maybe a blood test for food allergies and sensitivities could tell you what foods to avoid.  There are also natural practitioners that use muscle testing to test for the food sensitivities.  Forgive me if this does not fit your situation, since as I said, I am not familiar with your case.

I am sorry you and your family are dealing with this terrible group of diseases.  We wish you all the best.   bablymers mom

Dear bablymers,
Thanks for the reply. Firefly does not eat food. She is fed through a J-tube because she has gastro paresis . Her stomach quit working about
one year ago. This has happened once before and her doctor and I thought it was from malnutrition. But now she is getting about 1300 to 1500
calories a day, if I try to give her more she will quit drinking. Because her tube is in the small intestines she gets full fast. I am wondering if the
circles are from lack of sleep. She is back to sleeping only a few minutes a day.

Dear Firefly16's Mom,

There was a discussion fairly recently on the forum about a natural treatment for gastroparesis. Maybe you can find it and see if any of the info could help. I can't remember right now who it was that was talking about it, but if you don't find it, email me and I will try to find it and re-post it for you.

I still wonder if there is something in the "formula" that is fed to your daughter that is not ageeing with her. Maybe the sources of the nutrients given her are coming from foods that she is allergic to? Maybe they could make a different mix of stuff for her that is considered "hypoallergenic"?

Lack of sleep seems a reasonable explanation for dark circles too.

You might want to email Gracie's Mom (she is on this forum). She has dealt with feeding tubes etc. and may have some useful info for you. She is a wonderful lady.

Best wishes to you and your family. bablymers mom

What you are describing is common with Lyme patients.  Whether due to the illness itself or allergy, exhaustion, nutrition, dehydration- related, it is common.  During more difficult times they are more pronounced.  If you keep a daily journal, you can sometimes pick up on what may facilitate going from a lighter to darker circle.

Heth's are more prevelant when she is in more pain for longer durations, lack of sleep, exhausted and under siege.  This seems to be the norm.

I am sorry that your daughter is suffering so.  I know it grieves your heart and that you are doing everything possible to help her body to fight and heal.  It is great news to hear that she is taking in 1300-1500 calories each day.
