am currently taking Zhang's Allicin, but my acupuncturist said that there are others that are just as good, but less expensive.

Is there anything comparable, but cheaper?

I have been wondering the same thing. I have heard good things about Allimax and also pharmax freeze dried garlic. would be interested in hearing what others have to say.

i have never tried garlic, but would like to try it out. just don't know what to use.

Pharmax is the bomb, but pricey. The very best price I've ever found does beat Zhang, but only if you can afford to buy at least 9 at a time. I get it for 14 and some change per bottle, and that lasts 8 days at the quantity I use.

Hi Sulma, would I be able to substitue Zhang's dosages with Pharmax brand? I take 2 pills 3x per day I want to continue taking his Circulation P and possibly HH.

LOL....no probably not. Dietritch Klinghardt writes in his Lyme Protocol that freeze-dried garlic dosages above 5200 mg daily would have an anti-biotic effect against Borrelia (Lyme), but I double that just because I want to be aggressive with my treatment. I'm stoked about the freeze-dried garlic because that, Niacin, and Chlorella are the only three nutraceuticals I have ever tried that absolutely work, and they all work amazingly well.

Doing the 5200 a day you could make two bottles last you a month, which would be about $30 to $35 a month. Not so bad that way. tongue

Bella, good question. I've been wondering how the Pharmax garlic would fit into Zhang's protocol myself for while. I'll type in the label info right from the bottle in front of me and you can compare it to the Zhang stuff you have, ok?

One capsule is 700mg of freeze-dried garlic. Provides 14mg cysteine sulfoxides, including Alliin, which when ingested releases 6.3mg of antimicrobial thiosulfinates, including Allicin.

So I guess each cap has 6.3mg of Allicin. How much Allicin does Zhang recommend daily?

Hi Sulma,

Thank you for typing that out for me.

On the Hepapro website, it says this about the Allicin:

Proprietary Herbal Extract of Garlic Bulb 130mg per capsule. Dr. Zhang recommends 2 capsules 3x per day.

See the Pharmax is whole garlic, not extract. I'm not sure how we could make a comparison. Extracts are concentrates, right? I would think less of the Zhang would be comparable to a higher amount of the Pharmax brand.

HI THERE,
I have been researching the garlic treatments as well and have been trying to find a product that is actually working and is cheap... With Sulma's help I could find on internet, but it takes lots of time and postal charges for delivery in Canada.
I found one product that says "Premium Standardized and Certified Garlic - Ail 1500 mg."
I also found this comparison on a UMM web site (how to take the garlic)

"Whole garlic clove (as a food supplement): 2 - 4 grams per day of fresh, minced garlic clove (each clove is approximately 1 gram)

Aged garlic extract: 600 - 1,200 mg, daily in divided doses

Tablets of freeze-dried garlic: 200 mg, 2 tablets 3 times daily, standardized to 1.3% alliin or 0.6% allicin. Products may also be found standardized to contain 10 - 12 mg/Gm alliin and 4,000 mcg of total allicin potential (TAP).

Fluid extract (1:1 w/v): 4 mL, daily

Tincture (1:5 w/v): 20 mL, daily

Oil: 0.03 - 0.12 mL, 3 times daily "

I was taking it 2 caps 2x a day mainly after Sulma's suggestion to nuke the yeast... I didn't feel it was working, so I took an advice from an old grany for stronger effects... (I have to admit, back then I didn't believe in the "cure" she advised me of... now I am willing to try anything): I am using the garlic caps as suppositories and guess what: the yeast is coming out as crazy. I just don't know how long I can take this vaginal and rectal itchiness. I am tempted to take a doze of a nystatin pill but I don't know if it will make it better or worse... rolleyes

DarMar, Pharmax is the only garlic for which I can personally vouch. I'm sure there are other freeze-dried preparations that are good, but this is the one I can speak for personally.

Here's the place I order from now:

I love raw garlic so I do mine by eating organic raw garlic. But I also supplement with Kyolic. Sometimes I do the Immune, sometimes the cardiovascular, they have so many different garlic supplements.

My Mom has an idopathic lung disease and she takes garlic and chops it up and washes it down with water at night. She has less garlic breath the next day. But she also does little physical activity and if she did the garlic can come out of your pores.

Another is she boils the garlic in a teapot, lets it cool for a bit and then plugs her nose and inhales the cool steam vapors and then exhales through her nose.

Some alternative doctor had her do this.

I am suffering from pollen allergies and this is suppose to be a great histamine inhibitor. I am trying it today.
