I've used my Infrared Sauna for the past couple weeks, but I am experiencing a major increase in shortness of breath. I was in last night for 45 minutes and the highest it went was 140 degrees.

I guess I'm wondering if there could still be die off a day later and if that might be causing the shortness of breath? I mostly feel it in my throat, like I can't get enough air.

This is the sauna I use http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160286974277#ht_1802wt_0

Did you test your blood pressure?

Bella: Is it brand new? They sell them at the clinic here and they tell you to turn it up as high as it goes every day for a couple of hours to "off-gas" the materials. Did you do that first (if it is new)? Could be you are reacting to something...

Hi Judy - No, I haven't tested my blood pressure. Could that have something to do with the shortness of breath?

Hi Dowa - I got it maybe a month ago, so I guess it's not brand new. Should I be turning it on every day for a couple of hours? I haven't used it since Friday night since I don't know if this is a herx or not.

It wouldnt hurt. Almost ALL materials will off-gas as they are heated, that is why they tell you to heat it up and get them off-gassed before you go in. Does it have a smell of any kind that you  notice?? I am VERY sensitive to chemicals so for me it would be a problem if it did, dont know your situation...

I just took my bp with out home monitor (which isn't very good), it was 102/58. It's usually 110/60 or something like that.

My sauna does have like a plasticy smell to it. I'm not sure if I would still be feeling short of breath a couple days later though. The next time I use it, I will run it for a couple hours first.

I noticed my shortness of breath is worse while laying on my left side, but I have no idea if that means anything.

Hi Bella. I get shortness of breath when laying on my left side because lyme affected my spleen a bit. Think back and try to remember if you had acidy foods over the last few days. Tomatoey (spelling) foods, chocolate, onions and coffee are all high acid. If it is your spleen and you've been eating these items you will likely feel pressure, possibly pain as well, along with shortness of breath... or more accurately, a lack of oxygen. Hope this helps.
