Hello all.

I´m new to this forum so I shall introduce myself.
I´m writing this from a town near Hanover  Germany and beceuse my wife's English isn't that good (who has Lymes,)I have been persuaded to log on to this site.
My wife was diagnosed with Lymes disease about one and a half years ago after being bitten by a tick while walking our dog.

She had all the usual symptoms such as ear infections, pain in legs, hot flushes etc. But what bothers her mostly, and what the Doctors cannot understand is the fact that everything she Tastes and smells, tastes and smells of metal.

My wife has had massive doses of penicillin, and all sorts of drugs, even to the extent that, She has been accused by her ear, nose, throat Doctor of faking it, This is the worse part of everything
Doctors shrugging their shoulders.
I thank you in advance.

Is there a lyme literate doctor near you in Germany? How long has she been on antibiotics and how long between the bite and her treatment? Does her doctor know how to treat lyme disease? It is so difficult when doctors do not believe the patient and dismiss lyme disease which can take a very long time to treat. Good luck.

Hi lillimul
Thanks for mail.
With out being rude, I don´t really think the German Docs have much of a clue here, you see (as far as I know) lyme disease
was a South European thing something we hardly come into contact with until in came to North Germany I believe in mid nineties, so it is something that is relatively new to us.
We are trying to find a lyme literate doctor but am not having much success, we believe it was about a week or two before we saw the bite mark, and she was on penicillin for about two weeks then one weeks rest then another six weeks penicillin then a weeks rest then weeks of cortisone, then weeks of high penicillin doses. She really started feeling unwell with earache went to ENT doctor received penicillin noticed tick bite, and since then had problems with metallic taste in mouth she says that every thing smells ans tastes of iron sulfer (used as an iron supplement in the garden)

I hope this makes sense to you and thank you for any reply.

Hello boggy,
You mentioned she had a metal taste in her mouth. Is your wife takign biaxin? If she is biaxin causes a metal taste in your mouth.
Diagnosed with lyme 1/19/08. Mom passed lyme on to me and my sisters. Started IV treatment 3/18/08. Have helped 4 people diagnose lyme! July of 2008 got picc line pulled and ever since then have had no pain and doign tremendously good!

Hi,
Atually Lyme has been around in Germany for a long time. Since it was made by them in world war two.
I went to a Dr. in Wurzbur Germmany named Dr. Schawartz. He had lyme 20 years ago and he has a 70% success rate with
cronic lyme.
He is at the University there. I thought he was a wonderful man. He has great success with the German clients. And maybe that
is because of the German strain. I have read that there are over 300 diff.strains. So the fact that you are there is good.
I got mine in the the NE in te USA. He treats it like they treat maleria. It is not a hard process. It did not clear me of all of
my symptoms and it was hard for me to do a treatment on my own in the US with him over there,

But he has a great reputation even in Munich and is such a nice man.
The dr. who treated you wife does not sound like he knows what he is doing. She sould ot go off of the abx after such a short time.
odd. but as you will find..every dr. will tell you something diff. and it is really crapty when they think that you have noithing better
to do with your life than"play sick".that is just rude of the dr.
Good luck!

2004 in Martha's Vineyard me and my two daughters then 11 mos and 6 all got Lyme Disease. This was only known to us because we found the tiny ticks on us and we got very ill. My dog also got lyme and he went lame.
We have fought it for 4 years to no avail.
We all got it again this summer is Texas.
I am now in treatment in Scottsdale Arizona at Envita.

Also look into a alternative medicine, or homeopathic. Like collidal silver...etc..most of the Dr.s here now do not just a patient
one kind of abx, and has she been tested for co-infections?
one tick can carry mor than just one disease.
