Hi Amey,

It's Diane! Yes I take major pain meds but I see a pain specialist and he worked with me and has been for the past few months to get a good combination to work! I take Opana ER(Extended Release), Roxicodone every 4 hours, muscle relaxers we switch between soma and flexeril b/c the body gets used to it. I also take Valium for anxiety and neurontin for nerve pain! Oh also take 800 IBU as well! There are still some days that I am so crippled upan none of that helps! Especially in the morning i can not walk at all right now! I have recently switched to a new IV medication called IV Tygacil and it is killing me! I administer it 2xday and it is rough not to mention it makes me very tired and nauseaus! I have to take Zofran to help with that!!!!

I remember last time we talked you told me you were in a lot of pain! Just go to a good pain specialist!!!!! Don't wait b/c they are the only ones who can help you!!!!

I feel for you and I am sorry you are in so much pain!!!!! Life is horrible living like that!

How is the new Dr????? What regimen are you on?

Please keep in touch!!

Hugs,
Diane

I have been in pain for over 8 years. During this time period I was given Vicodin (for 30 days only) which did not touch the pain. I think I may have had an additional 30 day pain script during this time.

Last October when I had the gallbladder pain and surgery, I was given percodone and/or oxycodone.... it took care of the gb pain for a little while, but other than that it made me sick and dizzy and did nothing for the LD pain.

Pretty regularly from last November to last month my LLDr prescribed Darvocet, which worked a little bit, but was the best pain med so far.

I finally saw a pain management doctor a month ago. I am now on Lyrica and Skelexan. These have helped with the Fibromyalgia type pain. What a relief. She has increased my Lyrica amount to try and help my bone/joint/arthritis pain. This has helped at times. But other times I feel kind of over-medicated. Some times it just knocks me out and I sleep for 3-4 hours in the middle of the day. My body isn't used to this type of medication and I'm going to give it a while to adjust. I have actually gotten out of the house 3 times in the past month or so... which is AMAZING for me. I went out on Thanksgiving and have been out and about in the city, window shopping.... having a chili-cheese dog (and not doubling over).

The pain meds work when I take them... but when I wake up in the morning the LD is there. I want my disease gone, I don't want to take pills to numb my body. I am grateful for finally having some pain relif, but even more aware that my disease is still there.... waiting.

Isn't that the truth!

The pain meds help us cope but every morning when we wake up and everything is worn off were are well reminded the evil disease we are fighting every day! When I wake up in the morning and there is no pain i will know I am starting to get better!!!

BTW- Amy i am having a huge showing of UOS sometime in January not sure of exact date b/c Pat Smith the President of the LDA will be blessing us of her presence and I am waiting to find out what date is god for her! Januwary will be the last month we will be able to show the DVD b/c UOS is going int he theaters with it and we will no longer be able to show it! How exciting!
