I thought I would let you know what the clinic is giving me now.  The part of the treamtment that takes 6 hours a day . It is the stuff that is supposed to really break down the outter hard shell of the lyme that is resistent to the abx. It is called EDTA, or Edetate Dissodium.
This is what they are giving me for the a month or so and with a bag of abx to follow behind it to kill the Lyme inside to cell.
I read all sorts of stuff on line about it. It was used in the 50's to rid peoples bodies of poisen's, mercury.
I can't really tell you more about it right now. It does make me rather sick to my stomach and tired.
I am not going to be jumping on the treadmill today.
I must say that I am under heavy medical supervision during all of my iv treatments. They have a watchful eye on me all day.
Don't even think of taking this stuff alone. It is not a cake walk.
I am getting better. But it is rough during treatment .
2004 in Martha's Vineyard me and my two daughters then 11 mos and 6 all got Lyme Disease. This was only known to us because we found the tiny ticks on us and we got very ill. My dog also got lyme and he went lame.
We have fought it for 4 years to no avail.
We all got it again this summer is Texas.
I am now in treatment in Scottsdale Arizona at Envita.

Hello Martha. And thanks for posting!

This is fantastic. I have long been thinking about taking EDTA. Mostly because of Alan MacDonalds work on biofilms. As I am sure you know he has a theory that biofilms play a major role in chronic lyme, and EDTA is a agent which (may) be a very useful tool to break down the film.

Could you please tell me more in a email? Which clinic, where etc. If you can, my address is "norweger5" which is at yahoo dotcom (I write it that way so I wont get spam from 'webcrawlers' looking for email addresses)

Martha's Vineyard,

Do you have any mercury fillings in your teeth? If so, the EDTA may not be safe for you as it may pull the mercury out of the fillings.

Also, homeopathic Hepar Calc. Sulph (Hepar, for short) antidotes the poisonous effects of mercury, copper and some other metals during chelation treatment, so I'm wondering if it would help offset the side-effects of the EDTA...

Take care,

Okay Razzle...
you are way too smart for me. uhmmm
I had all of my teeth re done 3 years ago.
We talked about teeth a few times on time forum
Most people are noticing a lot of probelms with their teeth from lyme.
I had not made the connection between my lyme and my teeth probelms before.
But I had all of my mercury and every single tooth re done in my mouth..due to probems that started after my lyme.
My dog, toto, who got lyme with us all in MV in 04...had the teeth of a very old dog at the age of 5.
Our vet. could not understand it. Because he was very well taken care of with cleanings and diet and maintence.
But my gosh.....I am darned if I do..and darned if I don't....
But to answer your last question......
I would have to say....dont know.
lol
:>)
I can say that it is making me very sick to my stomach and that I am not in a jovail mood during my hard days of 6 hours treatment.
But when I am not getting it..I feel so fantastic.
so...here I am...your friend...Miss MV lab rat at your service...:>)

I am forgetting what week I am on here. Lets see, I came back on the 3rd of Jan. But I had some set backs due to my port. But it is fine. I just have to lie flat to get the flow of blood to go out smoothly.
No big deal. I am now finishing up my 2nd week of the 6 hour treatment. It has not been too hard. After being sick with lyme. Most lymies will not even consider this being sick at all. Since we are a tough gang who are use to be really so ill.
I think that this 6 hour thing is a 15 day deal. And then they give the body 3 day breaks. And let me tell you. I feel like a new gal on the three days.
I felt really tired yesterday. Nauseated. And left here at 1 pm and went home and slept from 2-6, had a brief sort of dinner, but felt crappy and then went back to bed at 9 pm.
I feel great today. But I won't after treatment. So...it is best to just go with the flow and let the body rest.
The headaches come nd go. But they are not the mirgrains like before.
The weird nightmare have started again. But at least there was a gorgeous nude man in mine this morning...lol
The night sweats have started again. Even though it was 50 in my open room last night. It was raining all night in the desert. Gosh it smells good today here! I am running a low fever...no big deal.
If this is a herx..it is a cake walk.
I am not complaining. It is like stubbing a toe. Compared to the lyme days. I am getting thinner. But that is because I don't seem to have much of a appetite. I have lost almost 10 pounds while here since Oct.
Which is fine with me.
On ward forward. I am leaving tomorow to go home to see my girls for 3 days. My 5 year old is crying for me. my 12 year old hates me.
Oh well. I have to do a mineral bag first thing in the morn. so that I can run to pHX and jump on a plane. Before this would never have been possible for me to do. It is nice to be able to travle again. With out the panic attacks in the air port..lol:>)

Keephope - I was on Zithromax for 5-6 months and then began Biaxin and Plaquenil.  Biaxin hit me really hard...I mean hard.  It is my wonderdrug.  It is really what makes me feel better.  Phinsvent is right about being a macrolide junkie, cause macrolides are really the only thing that has helped me.  Within one week of taking Omnicef, I began stomach problems.  Plaquenil has been very vague.  CaEDTA, 100mg daily, made me herx for 3 weeks straight.  Sore all over and a lot of pain.  I am just going to take the next step and see what happens.

As far as insurance...Insurance will cover most of mine, since I am only going to be taking IV Zithromax and IV EDTA...with Remineralization.  Insurance covers antibiotics and most of the EDTA.  Actually, insurance should cover most of it.  If you go the other route of homeopathics and IV Ozone (etc)...good luck.

Thanks for the support and I hope you are well.  What is your story and how are things?

Hi - I am new on here. My Mom has finally been diganosed with Lyme after being told it was anything from Lupus to RA. We have found Envita - we live in AZ. Anyone have any advice that they could share with us? She is totally scared of the port idea - but we think it might be the best way.

hello, I can understand how she would not be hrilled about the port. When I cam to envita I luckily did not know about it. They put the iv in my arm for the first week. I must say that I was not trilled by them stickin gmy arms. And the arms do not look so hot after a week of it. I only got my port because my arms hurt. And because every one else had one. Now I am port savy. lol. It is no big deal to get stuck once a week. It does not hurt at all. And I show mine to everyone. lol. my kids call it mommies button. i am in the middle of my 6 hour treatment right now. And left my glasses at the hotel..so sorry for my bad spelling..I can barely see. :>) Let your mom do the iv in the arms for aweek and then she will see how much better she will feel and she will be eager to continue and eager to get her port. one step at a time. smilewinkgrin

Try ******* rectal suppositories instead of the EDTA IV chelation.
It's safer, cost much less, you can do it at home and the Glutathione helps avoiding the Hex-reactions.
If a natural antibiotic is needed, add ****** to ******. The synergy is great.

Dear Moderator,

No, it was not a spam, what I shared on HealingWell.com under "I'm getting EDTA for Lyme treatment".
I posted it since I know Lyme patients who were greatly helped with ToxDetox. One of those persons is quite close to me.

If anybody does some serious research to find key target points to eliminate Lyme, both EDTA and glutathione would find their place quite high on a hypothetical list of 'important supplements/ingredients in Lyme disease.' A natural antibiotic, such as StemDetox is equally helpful, especially if taken together with ToxDetox (this is what we did with exiting results...)

Don't worry, I understand if you didn't do the type of research I did. I like ToxDetox since the synergy makes the two ingredients so much more effective. Let me know if you find anywhere a similar product (glutathione + EDTA). If you do, I would be eager to try it, test it, and if the superior effects are there, even promote it where it might help people who suffer.

Anyhow, I thought that the forum members are looking for new and better solutions. Maybe I was mistaken.
If you're a closed group, and you're not interested in new findings, I promise that I will stay away from your circle of friends and will not post anything else in the future.

Respectfully,

David

Update on September 29, 2012

While I recognize by now that this site is not really welcoming health professionals (I couldn't find other doctors or health professionals commenting here - so this is my last post), and I should rather go back to those sites where we discuss difficult cases, I thought that the research minded members might appreciate some of the reasons why glutathione and EDTA (end enzymes), I think, will play an increasingly larger role in the management and treatment of Lyme disease.

Glutathione Articles - Lyme Disease

1) - Can Glutathione Help Lyme Disease Sufferers? Excerpt from: The Glutathione Report: Optimal Health with the Master Antioxidant. Issue 4, Volume 1, 2004 May.
..."At an informational forum on Lyme disease keynote speaker, Dr Richard Horowitz, who has worked on the study and treatment of Lyme disease at the Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center, mentioned that for the first time in 20 years, he had seen evidence of a possible treatment solution occurring right before his eyes, "in my office during the last 30 days." The treatment involved administration of glutathione by intravenous injection to remove heavy metals stored in the brain cells of a person who suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease. After being given the IV dose, the patient showed 90 percent improvement within tem minutes. His joint pain was gone and his cognitive symptoms improved markedly with results that were encouraging and consistent. "Neurotoxins produced by the Borrelia spirochete, or Lyme disease bacterium, also interact with heavy metals in our cells," Dr Horowitz explains. "All these chemicals in our bodies cause inflammation, and glutathione seems to act like a sponge that pulls them out."
(I would add that glutathione rectal suppositories have several advantages over the IV administration; the release of glutathione from the suppository is sustained over five to eight hours; the suppositories can be used at home, without the hassle of going to a clinic; the price is much less)

2) - Pancewicz, SA; Skrzydlewska E, et al, Role of reactive oxygen species (RPS) in patients with erythema migrans, and early manifestation of Lyme borreliosis. Med Sci Monit. 2001; 7(6): 1230-35.
(The administration of extra glutathione might influence the ethiology of erythema migrans by its benefitial effects over RPS.)

EDTA article - Lyme Disease

1) - Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2009 Mar 3;106(9):3449-54. Epub 2009 Feb 13.
A manganese transporter, BB0219 (BmtA), is required for virulence by the Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi.
Ouyang Z, He M, Oman T, Yang XF, Norgard MV.
Department of Microbiology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX 75390, USA.

(This study was the first one to identify the requirement of metals for the establishment of infection by Borrelia burgdorferi. Since chelation with EDTA removes or at least lowers the available metals, the intensity of the infection might be influenced by this pathway (- and other known or not yet known pathways, influenced by EDTA.)

2) - Phillips Daniel – Cumultive effect of EDTA and proteolytic enzymes on the formation of Borrelia burgdorferi biofilm; ILAD Poster Presentation, 2012, Boston, University of New Haven

(This is one of the more interesting studies that try to explain the benefits of EDTA, with the addition of a proteolytic enzyme. It should partially explain our success with the addition of StemDetox since it has a very high level of proteolitic Serrapeptaze enzyme.)

It's gratifying to see the support of scientific studies that confirms our unique approach in the management/treatment of Lyme disease that was/is based on raised glutathione levels with the additional EDTA, and a concurrently administered proteolitic enzyme.

It seems that the "glutathione-EDTA-enzyme trio" is more effective and more beneficial than any antibiotics or other drugs or supplements. More studies are needed to confirm the superiority of our somewhat unusual approach.

David

The "big bag of abx" I got daily at Envita is a natural abx called Colloidal silver. It is all natural and was the first abx that the native americans used before penicillin was invented.
I learned that since Lyme and many other infectious deceases are used as a bio war agent that it was made to be resistant to penicillin.
My LLMD's told me this. And can also be read about in Lab 257. about Plum Island. Lyme does not recognize colloidal silver as a threat and therefore does not protect itself against it once it enters the blood stream. Therefore it is destroyed.

I took about a year of interfase plus, a combo of enzymes and EDTA. I had two different drs recommend it. It's made for biofilms in the gut but assumed it works all over for yeast, Lyme etc.

Hi Flowergal,
I met him when he came out. And I met the girls grandmother as well. He didn't want to take the vitamins that are a big part of treatment. So I bought them for him. He was also doing treatment from another Dr. out there at the same time. Which I told him not to do. Just to do one Dr.s protocol.
I think that he lived in the area as well. So he was doing treatment and then having to go into work. Hard to imagine being able to do that. Poor guy.
Sometimes I get calls from these people out of the blue. I had so many people contacting me during my search....ie lab rat days. It use to take me 4-6 hours a day to answer all of my e-mails from people.
last I heard from him was maybe 2 years ago. And he was doing much better.
The grandmothers daughter and granddaughter use to keep in touch with me for a while too. And it really helped her. She was unable to walk when she got there.
It didn't help everyone who went. One women who was suffering from horrific mental disorders was not able to be helped. But she would rip the thing out of her port. So she was unable to be treated properly.
One time I got 28,000 hits on a post of mine in 24 hours.
It was crazy the amount of people who had questions. It was such a hot topic then. But I am happy that there are many more clinics and Dr.s out there popping up to help.
