For those of you who don't know, i had to stop all antibiotics over a year ago because they were literally killing my stomach and gut.  So I'm on all natural treatment.  Along with Lyme and co-infections, it seems my body has an outrageous viral load.  Weird viruses that are beating up my immune system.  And no, not the viruses that Valtrex is usually used to treat.  Not those. *cough*

In order to try and kill these viruses, yesterday I was put on Valtrex 1GM tab 2x daily.  about 4 hours after taking tablet, I got really bad cramps in my back, which I blamed on my cycle.  I hadn't had such bad cramps in a long time.  The cramps subsided with Advil, but came back in the front of my body.  And more in my stomach.  I don't typically get "cramps" in my stomach from my cycle.  And the pain and general discomfort has not gone away in 24 hours.  bleh, i hate feeling this way.  I'm trying to figure out if it's my cycle or the Valtrex that's causing my discomfort.

Do you have any experience with Valtrex or viral load and if so, what did you use to treat it?

Hi teenLymer -
I had taken one with Valaciclovir - I am pretty sure its the same ingredient as in your med; I could not tolereate it - got a rash and looked like an overripe strawberry. completely red, some pimples in between, with a head even more red and hot. I had to stop it. Got it for herpes zoster infection.

As to my viral load - i have west nile with lyme. Very funny combination as symptoms are similar. Hope you get better soon! gretings, dorit

thank you for the input, dorit.  I'm beginning to think that the Valtrex may have freaked my body out and made it real easy for a stomach flu to take up residence in my body.  I now have slight fever, aches, nausea, fatigue, etc.
