Hi lmcclure4477, welcome to the board!

How long have you been sick?  Below is a Lyme disease symptom list.  You can have any combination of symptoms.

Unexplained fevers, sweats, chills, or flushing
Unexplained weight change--loss or gain
Fatigue, tiredness, poor stamina
Unexplained hair loss
Swollen glands
Sore throat
Testicular pain/pelvic pain
Unexplained menstrual irregularity
Unexplained milk production: breast pain
Irritable bladder or bladder dysfunction
Sexual dysfunction or loss of libido
Upset stomach
Change in bowel function-constipation, diarrhea
Chest pain or rib soreness
Shortness of breath, cough
Heart palpitations, pulse skips, heart block
Any history of a heart murmur or valve prolapse?
Joint pain or swelling
Stiffness of the joints, neck, or back
Muscle pain or cramps
Twitching of the face or other muscles
Neck creeks and cracks, neck stiffness, neck pain
Tingling, numbness, burning or stabbing sensations, shooting pains
Facial paralysis (Bell's Palsy)
Eyes/Vision: double, blurry, increased floaters, light sensitivity
Ears/Hearing: buzzing, ringing, ear pain, sound sensitivity
lncreased motion sickness, vertigo, poor balance
Lightheadedness, wooziness
Confusion, difficulty in thinking
Difficulty with concentration, reading
Forgetfulness, poor short term memory
Disorientation: getting lost, going to wrong places
Difficulty with speech or writing
Mood swings, irritability, depression
Disturbed sleep-too much, too little, early awakening
Exaggerated symptoms or worse hangover from alcohol

When Lyme disease is a possibility, it is very important to see a knowledgeable doctor.  Many doctors do not understand Lyme and treat with outdated protocols.  No test is completely reliable, and results can vary by lab.  Besides Lyme, ticks can also transmit several co-infections including Babesiosis, two types of Ehrlichiosis (HME & HGE), Bartonella, and Mycoplasma.  Many people who have Lyme are co-infected.  It may affect treatment choice and progress.  It is important to be tested for these by a Lyme reputable lab such as IgeneX in Palo Alto, CA.

bIf you need a doctor recommendation, you can email me at

It is also important to learn as much as possible.  I recommend reading Dr. Joseph Burrascano's 2005 Diagnostic Hints and Treatment Guidelines For Lyme and Other Tick Borne Illnesses at  He is one of the top Lyme doctors in the country, and many Lyme doctors follow his protocols. I also recommend the books "Everything You Need To Know about Lyme Disease Second Edition" by Karen Vanderhoof-Forschner and "The Lyme Disease Solution" by Kenneth B. Singleton MD.

I hope you can get answers soon.

Hi lmcclure4477,
There are several good doctors in New Jersey pretty close to you. The one I used to go to (I don't go to one at all anymore) is in Howell, NJ, which is probably about half an hour from you. Email me if you'd like his name and number, or Ticker can give them to you if you've already emailed her. To get my email address, click on my member name anywhere you see it as a link, and you'll get to my member profile with my email.
Lyme and co-infections since approximately 2002. Diagnosed in 2005. Treated for two years solid. Diagnosed with Lymphomatoid Papulosis in October 2007. Currently back on abx.

If you find an LLMD in Pa, Philadelphia area, please let me know. I am looking for one, also. I was already given one contact, but I did some background check on that doctor, and he has complains on a different forum, similar to this forum, so I won't use him. PLEASE share your connection with me if you can find one, and I will do the same.

Tk U!

not again:

I emailed you, too. I also need a LLMD and I leave about one hour (well, that really depends of traffic) away from Philadelphia. Any help would be appreciated. I am BF at the time and I am scared to death that I may pass it to the baby.
I was + last year, and pregnant with her, and I took Ax for 3 weeks. I was fine for a year, and now I am much worse than before. I have been in a car accident and my doc gave me steroids, and ever since then, I feel much worse than I did last year. I had 2 tests, this year, one was + and one was --. PLEASE HELP!

Sorry you have to go through this. How old is your son? I can't email you because your email is unavailable. You must change your profile and add your email to it. Than someone here will help you. Hang in there! You will find that we are caring and compassionate and many of us went through misdiagnoses before we found a good doctor. We do not post the name of doctors here, so please make sure you update your profile and someone will contact you.

Simela, Please do not take steroids!! I believe they can kill a lyme patient in time! Google "Danger of steroids and Lyme Disease" and it should bring up an article at MDJunction. Lyme patients should say they are allergic to the stuff.

Hi thelymie,

Welcome to the forum. I am very sorry to hear that you have suffered so long.

You will need to enable your email option so that members can shoot you an email. We don't mention the names of doctors or practitioners here on the forum.

Or you can send me an email, I have a doctor that is about two hours drive for you in NJ. He is really very accomplished and moderately priced. I travel two hours to see him. Just click the envelope icon under my name.
