I would like to try this for bartonella but cannot afford Zhang's prices as you need to take much more than he recommends and it is expensive.  There must be a way that those people interrested could share the cost of getting it wholesale.  Would you share what you have learned, if they are willing to sell a smaller amount and if not, maybe a group us could go into this together.  I can't do the drugs any more.

1stchineseherbs.com sells a pound of it for less than $20. I bought a bag of it a couple of years ago.
Clove bud oil and ozonated oils (rizols) are also effective against bartonella and mycoplasma.

Thanks yaniv_naced,  Do you think the quality was as good?  Phis thought Zhang's quality was the best.  He said it had a fishy smell and  it had a 9 to 1 potency so one gram of his herb was equal to 9 grams of a regular herb.  I bought some online that has a 5 to one potency and hopefully it smells like fish!  I got it for $18 for 100 grams and they also sell a kilo for about $110.  I will have to pack it in capsules myself.  I will post back on it's effectiveness.  I heard the clove bud oil works but don't know how much to use.  I had not heard about ozonated oils so appreciate that information.  I also read that Houttuynia is a plant that can be grown in most of the US and it is very invasive and easy to grow, taking over everything.  It is also called Chamelian plant.  Some people use it in salads.  The company I got the hh from is kalyx.com and they also carry TOA free cat's claw in capsule form.  As it is necessary to take much more than what Cowden or Zhang recommend, it would cost a fortune to use their herbs so it is good to compare sources.

The 1stchineseherbs website calls it 'fishy smell' but I didn't notice much smell.
I bought it for my wife who has lyme - she never tried it. For several weeks, I made and drank a decoction of houttouniya and a bunch of other herbs. Every time I drank it I felt dizzy/weak so clearly it was attacking some stealth infections in me.

My decoction was made by boiling a tablespoon of the each of following herbs in water for about 20 to 30 minutes:
Andrographis, Sarsaparilla, Cat's Claw, Boneset, Artemisia Annua, Houttouniya, Turmeric, Neem, and maybe a couple of other I am forgetting.

disclaimer: that was just my experimentation and I'm not recommending that anybody try what I just described.

nefferdun - I can only encourage you to additionally grow some houttuynia if you can / have a garden - you have some fresh then also.

The chinese or vietnamese species has much higher level of the antiinfammatory substance (mentioned in link); this herb grows very drastic + rapid whereever it can get; I was told not to use artificial fertilizer b/c this may make the plants store more water in them (and look pimped up) but does not necessarily mean they have more of the substances we would like to have them for; they are good in salats, you can dry them for tea and can also use some of their roots;

I found this link useful for detailed info about which species of the plant to get and what is in them: http://www.uni-graz.at/~katzer/engl/Hout_cor.html

good luck! dorit
