Another herb to try is jiaogulan which you can use as a tea or ground herb in capsules. It was brought to attention when it was discovered a providence in China where people regularly drank this tea, had one of the highest proportions of longevity in the world. It is a powerful antioxidant and immune stimulator, increases white blood cells etc. It is called an adaptogen because it will calm you when you feel stressed but energize you when you are tired. Athletes report improved performance without nervousness or anxiety. It lowers bad cholesterol, raises blood pressure if too low, and lowers it when too high. The way I discovered it, is a nationally recognized equine nutritionist uses it for insulin resistance in horses. It stabalizes blood sugar and increases circulation helping to remove toxins. IR horses often develop laminitis which is a painful destructive inflammation of the feet from poor circulation due to toxins in the blood which causes the tissue holding the hoof wall to the bone to literally die. Jiaogulan has been used very successfully to stop the inflammation, increase blood flow, get rid of the toxins and restore health to many horses. As many of our symptoms are due to toxins and poor circulation I am giving this a try. It promotes nitric oxide productions so should not be taken within an hour of food.
