I just got a call from my doctors office saying that my Vit D level came back low and I need to supplement.  Listed below are some of the symptoms of a low Vit D level:

  • Fatigue: "It can be a quite severe fatigue," Dr. Dowd says. In fact, those diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome may also suffer from lack of vitamin D, he says.
  • Body aches: "Bone pain, muscle pain, joint pain [are all signs]," he says. "[The pain] typically moves around—one day it's your back that bothers you, a week later it's your shoulders and the next day it is your feet and hands."
  • Difficulty controlling weight: Vitamin D plays a role in regulating weight, and Dr. Dowd says a deficiency may make it difficult to keep your weight in check.

Does this sound familiar to anyone else?  If I didn't ask for my level to be checked it never would have been ordered.

Mine were tested and were so very high I had to avoid eating anything with D in it and stay out of sunlight.

I was taking Vitamin D because I read of all its good effects, but not with a doctor's check.  Last week I read that people with lyme should not take it if they have a problem with sarcoidosis (spelling?), that is, granulomas on the skin.  Amazingly enough I had one of those on my hand last summer which took two treatments to remove.  No one said anything about Vitamin D and I didn't know to ask.

If it's not one problem, it's another.
Blessings on your health and continued improvement,

My Pain Mngmt. Dr. suggested it and I believe it's covered by ins. She also knows my new Rhuemy who concentrates on Fybromyalgia, and said that she would want to know all of my Vitamin levels anyway, so this is a way to stay one step ahead. I've been sick for almost 9 years and have never had this done. I heard about it from you guys, but have never been offered it.... andd always forgot to "ask" for it.

Yes, mine was tested last year and found to be very low (17). A couple months later, it had come up a little bit but was still well below normal (27). I should ask my doctor for a re-test...

Many people who have Lyme seem to be Vitamin D deficient, including me.  Being deficient can cause many problems.  I believe if you are deficient, you should supplement.

My GP just put me on an RX of Vitamin D 50,000IU that I take once a week. This was the first time I'd had that. My levels are usually low. My LLMD and GP test them.

Hi Jennifer,
I haven't been on here as often, how are you doing?  I saw in your signature that your CD57 was a 3 was that through LabCorp?  Are you still seeing Dr. C.?  Did your last round of Rocephin help at all?   Take Care, KO
