Hi jennie48.  The sugar you are eating may be causing yeast.  This could be one reason for the yucky taste.  Does your tongue have a white coating on it?  The Lyme bacteria love sugar, so this may be why you feel worse from eating sweets.

I think Lyme can cause low blood sugar in some people.  I have had this in the past.  I believe what helps the most is to eat a healthy balanced diet and several small meals daily.  Avoid white floor products, processed carbs, and sugar.  This can make a huge difference in how you feel by keeping your blood sugar level instead of it spiking and crashing.

It sounds like it could be yeast. You should probably consult your doctor about this. If the yeast grows out of control, it can be dangerous. Taking probiotics will help keep the yeast in check by helping the "good" bacteria grow more and keep the yeast from taking over.

are you taking anything for yeast, nystantin or diflucan if not you should be if your on long term antibiotics.

you can do a quick test fill a glass full of water set on nightstand when you git up in the am spit in the glass then let it sit if you get these stringy looking things hanging down in the glass you need to go on yeast meds.

Yeah the yeast taste, as far as I've noticed, can taste like a stale beer taste.  At least to me.  A good mouth yeast infection also makes my mouth and throat real real dry, which often causes me to wake up early and not to be able to fall bakc alseep.

Also biaxin, if you're taking it, is said to cause a metallic taste.  I have been off and on it for awhile though and have never experienced it.
