Taking Malarone 2 x a day and Cedax 2 x a day.. I am herxing body aches, chills, head pain. My question is should I exercise through these herxes if I can? I read that exercise can help a herx and I wanted to start my pilates again but not sure if I will do more harm then good. Doc always tells me if you feel up to it do it, it kills the lyme. Also can you tell me what you do to get rid of the toxins from a herx. Also someone suggested an Epsom Salt bath but to go slow at first, what does that mean does it make you feel worse at first. Any advice is appriciated.
Thanks

Hi Maria.  I am sorry you are herxing.  Although I agree that exercise is beneficial, there are times when it is better not to.  I would wait until things let up.  It is not good to push past what your body is able to do.

You can take a bath with four cups of Epsom Salts and either eight ounces of hydrogen peroxide or eight ounces of baking soda.  Brush your skin in a circular motion from your feet up with a dry body brush.  You can buy these brushes just about anywhere including Target.  Soak in warm water for up to twenty minutes.  If you have never done one before, I think it is better to try it for five minutes or so to see how you react.  Some people herx from the bath and/or feel worse.  Be sure to rinse off after the bath and make sure you drink a lot of water.

Do you take the supplement Milk Thistle?  This is good for detoxing the liver as long as your liver is healthy.  Taking regular Alka-Seltzer three to four times a day for one to two days during a herx also can help.

I hope you feel better soon.

Maria,

If you know anyone that does foot detoxes, get that done. In my opinion, it works way better than the bath detoxes.
2003 symptoms started with very intense panic attacks and anxiety. Also had sound and smell sensitivities. Was in and out of the hospital from 2003-2005. Diagnosed with panic disorder.
2007 found an LLMD and was diagnosed with Lyme. Didn't start treatment.
2008 symptoms came back with a vengence. Muscle pain, joint pain, floaters, stiff neck, rib pain, slow thinking, brain fog, etc...
2009 went back to see LLMD. Diagnosed again with Lyme plus co-infections....Babesia and Bartonella.
Illnesses:-Chronic Lyme Disease,Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Ulcers, Hypoglycemia
Medications:-Biaxin 250mg to start (starting slow and working my way up, Mepron(babesia), Ultram(muscle/joint pain), Thyro Complex 60mg(Thyroid), Probiotics ,Caproyl(intestinal candidas),Psyllium Powder(intestinal cleansing support),Bentonite Magma(absorbent aid for intestinal detoxification)
-Plus a ton of other supplements

Me too, spoke to the doctor he said its a good sign. It will get much better and he said if I can handle it keep taking the same dose.. But if i feel that I can't I can cut it in half.. He said the Lyme is being killed off and that was a good sign, just wish I would feel better real soon, ...

Hi again Ria,

I've heard that salons do them sometimes. My hair stylist has one in her salon. You may want to call around and ask. I actually have a lady I go to that does them for me. You should feel a whole lot better after you do one but you should start off doing them like 3x's a week. You should drink at least two 8 ounce glasses of water while doing them to stay hydrated. I was one of those peope that didn't believe in detoxing until I finally broke down out of sheer desperation and had one done. It truly works and the stuff that comes out is really nasty.

Good luck! I hope you can find someone that does it.
