Have you tried a BioPatch at the site (a small disc that goes around the hole where the PICC line comes out of your skin)? I was having a lot of irritation around my PICC and use of a BioPatch has stopped the irritation. Also, it could be you have a sensitivity to the betadine or whatever they use to clean around your site. Do you use the skin prep protectant stuff? If so, discontinue it and see if that helps. And what type of clear covering are they using - tegaderm or something else? Some people are sensitive to the dressing material itself.
You might want to have a discussion with your PICC nurse about different supplies and ideas first before you change access types (i.e., PICC to Port).
