I am only 28 but I have had lyme symptoms since very early childhood. It isn't always the length of time that matters though so ask away.

Lymekiller, I think you have me confused with someone else. I was never cured or helped with one month of abx. I do know I have had it for 28years because I was bit when I was six and I am now 34.

Gotlyme, How long did you go untreated for? Are you being treated now?

I have a lot of memory/word loss. I have only been on Doxy for a short time , and at only 100mg every 12 hours, that has helped a little. I was on abx close to 2 years ago but quit because I had to move to another state.----honestly, at this point I have not given orals a fair chance. I am now afraid that the 100mg is too low . I really dont know if my physical symptoms can really be improved. the terrible joint and stiffness, maybe the damage is done.what do you think. what is your situation??? amey

stutterbug, I went untreated up until about 4 or 5 years ago... and then only had 2 months of iv antibiotics before the dr wouldn't work with me anymore. I have not had any treatment since, but am looking into it.

When I was young, they thought my problems were growing pains, when I was a teenager they thought I was depressed and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, when I was 20 I was told it was all in my head. The only ones who didn't think it was all in my head were my shrinks over the years and one eye doctor who actually called my dr and told him he wasn't doing his job.

I think that depends on the extent of the damage done before the disease is gone. But I think a lot of the problems would go away. I mean, drs can't find anything on tests, no signs of things wrong when we see drs to get diagnosed so that tells me that the pain is not actually a damaged body part but the lyme affecting the body part negatively. Maybe some things can't be reversed... but at one point my pancreas did not secrete any enzymes which meant I could not break down food. Pancreas works better than that now, although has been acting up again. And drs couldn't figure out why it didn't work.

My LLMD thinks I've had this since at least high school, I'm 44 and was diagnosed in 2006. I do choose to believe that I can get better. I know that I am 75% better than I was in 2006 and I'm going for 95-100%. Feel free to email me too if you'd like also.

Hey stutterbug!

I have some things that I would like to share with you. Would you call me sometime or e-mail me? I am off all prescriptions now and feeling much better. I have taken a new route with a new doctor of natural medicine. It's going very well. I hope to hear from you soon!
