A very good friend's grandson was bitten by a tick.  His parents discovered it and pulled it out. However the mouth parts stayed embedded.  The tick fell apart when it was pulled out.  The parents think the tick was in less than a day but cannot be sure.

The pediatrician said to leave the mouth parts in since they were so embedded.

The pediatrician prescribed amoxicillin ( not sure of the dose of the length of time to be taken).

Any ideas out there much appreciated.  The child is three years old.

Please help, my friend is very nervous for her grandchild.
