My daughter just informed me that my ex-husband's half brother just died from a tick bite.  He was bitten, (in NC) only 2-3 days ago, they gave him morphine and he died.

She will try to get more details on this.

Does anyone know of something like this??

Was it the tick bite or the morphine that killed him?

Was he allergic to morphine? I've heard this happen before.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
2003 symptoms started with very intense panic attacks and anxiety. Also had sound and smell sensitivities. Was in and out of the hospital from 2003-2005. Diagnosed with panic disorder.
2007 found an LLMD and was diagnosed with Lyme. Didn't start treatment.
2008 symptoms came back with a vengence. Muscle pain, joint pain, floaters, stiff neck, rib pain, slow thinking, brain fog, etc...
2009 went back to see LLMD. Diagnosed again with Lyme plus co-infections....Babesia and Bartonella.
Illnesses:-Chronic Lyme Disease,Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Ulcers, Hypoglycemia
Medications:-Biaxin 250mg to start (starting slow and working my way up, Mepron(babesia), Ultram(muscle/joint pain), Thyro Complex 60mg(Thyroid), Probiotics ,Caproyl(intestinal candidas),Psyllium Powder(intestinal cleansing support),Bentonite Magma(absorbent aid for intestinal detoxification)

Thank you for the sympathies, however, I only saw this person once or twice, my ex's dad happened to have fathered tons of kids. I hardly knew him at all. I posted because I'm sure we'll need to know what happened. My daughter just wrote that they think it was Rocky Mt, his fever was extremely high and he was deathly ill. She said that it is possible that he had a bad reaction to morhpine, or maybe it was the combination of the bite and morphine.

later I'll see if I can find info from the local paper. Asheville, NC (fyi I don't live there anymore)

Asheville? My favorite place in the world. I'm so sorry. We can run from this but cannot hide.

Where can I move to be tick free. Three ticks in a week on me and I live in a subdivision.

HELP!

My parents and siblings live there. I will move back there one day. But they've had Rocky Mt fever for as long as I can remember. Looking up I learned that death does not occur as often these days, (used to have a 30% mortality rate!), but the disease can still be fatal.

You shur as sh't can live there tick free!
