This has been going on for about 10 months.

I guess there's not much hope of it going away...

I have been trying to wean myself off antibiotics. Currently on just doxy. Doing okay but this symptom is awful.

Should I see a neuro to diagnose the pain OR should I see an orthopedist.

I don't trust my llmd right now due to what was written in my file for what exactly was being treated. I guess we fudge the medical records to throw the insurance off the lyme scent. That's not right! It scares me.
Bit June 08. Treated with 10 days of doxy 200 mgs.

Issues in Aug. Retreated in Sept. 08. Six weeks doxy 200 mgs.

Add Biaxin for six months.

Stopped all treatment for six weeks.

Still on doxy 200 mgs after another recent rash!

Doing okay but want to make sure I rid myself of it or any remaining stuff.

Hoping, do you know in what shape the intervertebral disks are in your neck area? I have the popping sound when moving my head up/ down out of a specific position; I can feel when the popping will happen, even knew how to "initiate" it a while ago when it was more severe; mine got much better but if i am not carfully then sometimes I still end up with a headache and sometimes nasty pain somehow under my left shoulder blade (its always on the left side).

I think I personally would prefer a orthopedist to a neuro only due to personal experiences as the neuro I met was completely flipped out but an ortho I found who was also in sports medicine was a help for me.

I wish I could be of more help!! greetings, dorit

I have the same thing - lots of popping/creaking/cracking in neck - lots of pain at base of skull and shoulders - an MRI showed some 'normal' degeneration in cervical spine.

I had cortisone injections into my trapeziums - which made me worse at first - but did help - esp. with shoulders.

I would say you need an MRI [if not already done] - just to help try and figure out what it could be

Of course lots of 'lymies' have pain etc; in neck area - this was my first symptom.

Neck and head pain are new for me in the past 12-18 months. I just had injections into my neck. I think it has helped a little, but my symptoms are returning.

I think corisone shots are fine (pills are bad with lyme).

My only concern is it's too late.

Will the orthopedist do the mri or do i have to go to a neuro for an mri?

Scared! I hate going to the doctor. I don't hate docs, just hate going to them. They only have bad news and can't help(much)

sorry don't know who you see for MRI - my G.P. ordered mine -[u.k.] - I used to think that nothing was going to help my neck pain - now it is much better - a few simple things that helped too - sleep on my back with one firm pillow supporting my neck - it's not a cure - but it helps.

neck pain is awful - especially when you have all the horrible 'noises' - I used to think all kinds of scarey thoughts - but it can and does get better.

best wishes x

Thanks for the encouraging words!

Popping can occur in odd places -- behind my ears mostly, back of head more often than not.

My spouse says ENT. My ENT already thinks I suffer from anxiety. Oh well. Here's another one "for the books" I guess.

Thanks again for the hope!

Aspirin seems to help with the pressure feeling.
