This is such an excellent report written by a physician in 1994. It helped me as it so clearly describes so much of what I have experienced.

Thank you pcpc for this article. It really really reinforces that my son and I need to be tested for lyme disease. I am going to insist on it when I see my rheumotolgist at the end of the month. Good read! I have often wondered if lyme could be spread by mosquitoes or fleas. Mosquitoes, fleas, chiggers, ticks love me for some reason. I can go out with other people and come back with 30 bites while they have none. I've always said that if mosquitoes carry a disease, I will end up with it someday.

Here's the link that works, so you don't have to type the whole thing in.

2001 symptoms started:
Tingling in fingers and toes both sides, not tested at that time for LD
2007 Summer tested pos. WB, diagnosed with LD, tested neg for co-infections thru Igenex
Abx - Doxy 100mg 2x/day for 3 weeks (before diagnosis)
Amoxicillin 1gm 2x/day for 1 month
Amoxicillin 1gm 3x/day with Probenecid 500mg 2x/day  5 months
Currently on Dr. Zhang's protocol stopped Zhang's after 6 months symptoms returned.  Started Buhner's protocol May 2009

PCPC, Everyone should read this......long and technical as it is. It sure addresses almost all of the issues that can come with a tick bite. I wish this man was my doctor back in 94 I wouldn't be as sick as I have been because when I first got bit in the late eighties I did go to a doctor and insisted on meds-I got 2 weeks of amoxy and thought I would be OK.......the rest is horrid history Thank you. Blessings

Pcpc: I know you work with womens health. The article states that LD can "disturb estrogen levels." I am 15 years post menopause and my estrogen is 4 times what it should be. Last test was 160 where 40 was normal for postmenopause. Do you think that Lyme could be causing my estrogen to be that high? Thanks  Diane
