I want to make sure that those toxins are steadily coming out. The thing is, I am always constipated. I've tried everything you can imagine....even magnesium and it's never enough. I've taken high doses of vitamin c and that usually works only when it's pretty bad. I just want to be regular for a change. If anyone takes Metamucil, please give me your experiences with it. Thanks!

Hi Cajungirl,
I have dealt with severe constip. all of my life.
Metamucil never did work for me, as the "active" ingredient wasn't the right one for my body.

Have you tried Citracel? That's what worked the best for me.

Watch for the "active" ingredient, maybe you just need to find the one that your body will be able to work with.

I did have to use stool softeners for the longest of time.

Ground flax seeds is much better as it helps liver metabolilsm and improves hormone function as well as give you omega 3's. You can also add Chia seeds (has protien, magnesium and omega 3's) for added bowel benefits. If these don't do it add magnesium citrate- but go slowly and reduce as soon as your stools become more frequent. This way you are treating your bowels, improving liver funciton, and helping your mood out.

I was always constipated until I began huigh quality probiotics every day. Now I never have that problem it has been 2 1/2 years!. Even after I am off antibiotics I will continue them. Have you tried that? You need more than acidophillis, get one with a few different strains of healthy bacteria.
Diagnosed 2003 Lyme, Babesia, Bartonella, Micoplasma,Hashimotos Thyroiditis. Have had since early nineties. [/color]

Can I get the Citracel over the counter? Is it a powder like Metamucil? Thanks.

Pcpc,

I've tried flax seed and magnesium citrate and it doesn't work on me for some reason. I've used more magnesium than suggested onthe bottle and it still didn't work. The only thing that works when it gets really bad is a high dose of Vitamin C. I'm not sure what's going on but I've been like this my entire life.

Minerals,

I take a high quality of probiotics everyday. It hasn't helped yet. I sure wish it did.

The only thing that works for me, that doesn't harm my intestines, is homozon. It cleans out the intestines as a side affect, including killing parasites and candida. Once the intestines are cleaned out, the ozone is absorbed into the bloodstream, where it can kill bacteria, etc.

CG: I use magnesium glycinate and honestly it works like magic. Always had the same problem until I started taking it. D

Dowa,

Can I get that one at a Health Food Store? What is the difference between magnesium citrate and magnesium glycinate?

Yeah, what he said!!!! smilewinkgrin

CG,
Yes Citrucel is over-the-counter. Generic worked well for me also.

Actually, so did the "clear" types - the ones you can mix in with your morning drink (mines still coffee!! shocked )

I've been a member of "Real Kefir Making" for a little while & on their message board, another member said that he/she uses ground chia seeds for flea & tick control on theer dog!!!

Maybe we should all be on that!! idea

Magnesium glycinate is just another form of Mag. I was told it is better absorbed. I get mine at Whole Foods and is made by Kal. It works EVERY time, I would try that before drugs, etc. D

Funny thing for me - I had been on an extremely high fiber diet, took my Citrucel twice daily, used stool softeners

& still had to use Milk of Mag. at least once each week...... until.......

I had my gall bladder removed last Feb.

It was totally filled with stones & diseased by the time I found a doc that would listen to me!!

Anyway, now I rarely have issues with constipation, usually when I travel or during times of high stress.

Get a box of fiber one and eat one cup each day. My GI doc said that is all you need in a day.
