Since pain meds make me sick to my stomach, I've had to find other ways to handle the pain. Here are some things I use or have used in the past for pain:

Magnesium - helps prevent muscle pain & cramping
Nettles - made my joint pain disappear completely
Homeopathic Arnica - can help with any pain, very helpful if pain is from over-doing it on a "good" day
Homeopathic Causticum - helps with the wandering leg pains, hand pain
Benadryl - helps some with muscle aches, nerve pain, abdominal pain, bladder pain
Heating pad - helps with most of the different pains I've experienced from Lyme, including bladder pain

Take care,

Veronica,

Hi hun. How are you doing?

I do take pain pills now. I struggled for months trying natural supplements that worked at the beginning, but not anymore. I did NOT want to take pain pills. I was never a pain pill sort of person and I was scared to get addicted. Now, I have no choice. The pain is bad every single day, all day long. I now take Ultram. I had some left over from a year ago when I twisted my finger...so I tried one. It worked really well and also helped with the mood swings I was having. Anyway, I asked my LLMD for some and he prescribed it to me. Gave me 90 pills. I usually only take 2 a day unless the pain is really bad but the nurse told me that I was barely taking anything. That I could take up to 400mg if needed. I'm only taking 100mg a day. I say, if you need it, take it. It helps me a whole lot.

I have this awesome supplement called Entero that cuts the nausea out altogether. I've been on phenegan and in my opinion, this supplement works better without the side effect of being sleepy that phenegan gives you.

I would love to know more about Entero - I tried Googling it and am getting an odd mix of results. Can you please post the whole name and who makes it?

Thanks!

My lyme-friendly gp has given me several different scripts for different pain meds. According to the pain doc I see, Ultram (as well as tylenol) will

completely ruin your liver IF you take it on a daily basis, for several years. I have already reached the point where I've switched to hydrocodone (brand name Vicodin)

for my most extreme pains. Fortunately though, by changing the over the counter stuff -rotating through several- each time, I don't have to rely on the

'script pain meds on a daily routine - at this point, any way!!

I would also take a guess that (in general) gps & other have no clue as to the kind of pain some of us Lymies have the "priviledge" of living with!!

Another vote to call your LLMD!!!!!!

V i get my pain meds from my PCP. shoot each time i go to see him he asks me if i need more. he does know and understand my pain. he has seen me when i wasnt able to walk at all. and on my 1st visit to him told me i needed them and i didnt even ask for em. i still dont more of the time. i hate meds point blank. thats in part do to i like to be in controle of me, not some drug or drink. guess this is due to the ridlin i was on as a child. so it should be easy for you to get any of your Dr.'s to give you a script for em

Pomfrey,

It's called Entero Concentrate. It says Duodenum Concentrate at the bottom. I hope that helps you. I get it from a licensed distributor but you should be able to find it online.

I'm so proud hehe. so its just madining when those things are on hold, I feel like im missing windows of opportunity. Thanks you Caj lets all keep working to help eachother get out of this sh--!

My gosh veronica, I have no idea how you or anyone else with Lyme run a household with little kids. I was just telling my husband that I have no clue how I would do it. I am lucky that mine are older. And aren't you taking care of your grandmother too? Girl, I don't know how you do it!

RD,

I know how you feel barely being able to let the animals out. We have 2 dogs and a cat inside. I used to love helping animals out. They made me feel good inside. Now, it takes all I have to care for them. Our cat is sick right now and hasn't eaten since Tuesday. Brought him to the vet, he was dehydrated even after both my husband and I forcing liquid down his throat. They did blood work and put him on an IV. $170.00 later, we still don't know what's wrong. The vet thinks he has a hairball that's stuck because he doesn't want to use the bathroom. Ugh!!! He's looking a little better today. He's more alert and even wants to play but still doesn't eat. I guess it's off to the vet again. I am so tired lately that I can barely even deal with this. My husband has been doing most of the work. This always seems to happen when I am at my worst! Blah!

aww i am so sorry the cat is sick, did your vet do a x-ray? hairballs if inpacked will show up. if this is the case then your looking at some suped up druges to desolve it and then maybe suregery. if the cat doesnt have a hair ball, you may want to have it tested for feline aids and lucema. cats as a rule will not stop eating unless they are very sick. make sure you get the leftover IV fluids you can also do IV sub-q at home. if you was closer to me i could help you there. i have the fluids here already. i keep them for ER with my babies. when he does start eating again give it baby rice ceral to start mix it with pedelite. after 2 days then you can slowly add in cat food. and you may want to look into a food to prevent hairballs. Iams has a good one. ( i do not stand to gain anthing by Iams compony) i have used iams for my pets for yrs with great results.

hope your better soon
