Well this has been my major constant symptom. Stiff neck is a reliable symptom that i can say I always have. My knee will heal you know but the neck never. So from what I have read that is meningitis. What do you guys know about this? And also the diagnostic aspects? Do u get a spinal tap?
How is the lyme caussing this or is it a coinfection symptom?
The line is faded not showing where Lyme came in. I became a new Mommy n my Lyme decided to show itself. Swollen elephant like knee and finger and limiting back pain. Bell's palsey, weight loss as if I had no muscle on my bones anymore. And much more text book lyme symptoms. To a Lyme doc, after alot of there is nothing wrong with you and a recommend to counceling,he said V this is Lyme. What kept me pressing on I had Lyme while I was pregnant. I know I was not infected while pregnant. I am watching her with an eagle eye. God Bless everyone. Love Veronica. Were the ones who know about Lyme not the doctors. Isnt that just mad? Backwards. Hey V, I'm sorry you suffer with this too. It's been a constant over the years for me also. I've been told spinal taps are not reliable and since they are painful and somewhat invasive I wouldn't even bother. I had a SPECT scan that indicated encephalitis so this might be something to consider if you feel you have cognitive deficits. I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that I would think meningitis and encephalitis go hand and hand.

If I'm wrong, please correct me.

One of the internists when I first became sick enough to go out on disability and was diagnosed with CFS. My llmd who specializes in neuro-lyme ordered the second one. Both were done at Columbia in NY.

Are you seeing a llmd? I think it might be important to have one done at a medical facility that understands LD.

I'm fortunate to be near Columbia. The funny thing is that the SPECT done in 2005 specifically stated "Lyme" as one of the possible causes and because I tested negative on all the labs every doctor ignored Lyme. I was repeatedly told such abnormalities are commonly seen in CFS patients. B.S.!! I believe most CFS patients have undiagnosed LD. The most recent scan done after three months of iv's showed significant improvement so I personally don't need much more proof. Now if only my body and brain would catch up and match the results. lol

Sorry for the rant. This stuff still gets me so heated. lol

I could be wrong but I think NYU also recognizes the importance of SEPCT scans when it comes to LD. You might want to do a search on both Columbia and NYU and give your doctor the information you find.

I hope you can find a way to eventually get one.

I have this, too. It is so bad sometimes it is hard to move my head. My neck creaks and cracks too. I even have had swollen glands on the back of my head before I was on treatment. I never had any scans done. It is especially bad when I herx. Do u think it is a Lyme or coinfection thing?

The thing is scorpio that my daughter and I have a goverment insurance that doesnt cover my LLMD I have been to him to get my 3 months of doxy i will be starting my 2nd month. But I had to let my insurance coverage laps to go to him then pick it back up, because it is illeagal to be able to pay for a doctor and be eligable. My Dad helped me. So I go to him far and few times in between if fact only once so far. I got my daughters pediatric fam doc to give her an igenex WB. we will prob gt back in 3 wks. cant wait
Point is I go to him spareingly and to get antibiotics period because of my insurance situation cant afford the extras I wish I could.

Lovelabs-I have to reread a detailed coinfection symptoms list. I forget if it is coinfection or BB.
I think its just good old fashioned BB though.

V, I'm sorry you are not in a position to go more often. As far as I'm concerned the scan is an extra and just backs up what we already know. The important thing is that you're being treated, scan or no scan. I hope you start to feel better and I pray that precious baby of yours does not have it.

I just want you both to be okay. If I find anything that starts to work on the neck pain I'll let you know.

Thank you man am I getting bad though during treatment. It has been one month so far on doxy.
I am just so worried about Mia. this morning we got up and we go into the living room to watch the doctors and max and Ruby, and she just lays with my instead of playing with her toys as she usually does. And I said to her are you ok she always says yes, today she said no. She is only 21 months so her vocabulary is very advanced but she doesnt know everything so im trieing to teach her the word hurt. I think she just about has it. And she said " hurts."
I said what hurts but she really isnt at that point where she can say tha. I need to work with that. But I was afraid that the pain is all over, or what she meant..

V, That's terrible. My heart breaks for the little ones. I hope she's not feeling well because of some viral thing going around and not LD.
