James, certain antibiotics like Biaxin can cause this.  Sometimes it goes away.  Is Clindamycin the only antibiotic you are taking?

Clindamyacin gives the metallic taste. That's what you're on right? My pharmacist told me to look out for that when I started taking it.

Are you on Mepron with Biaxin? If so, they work together. It's either Biaxin with Mepron or Zithromax with Mepron.

no, i'm on Clindamyacin/qualaquin.

i'm taking 2 clindamyacin a day and 1 qualaquin a day. and sulfacetamide eye drops 3 times a day.. my eye sight is going down quickly.. everytime i look at some far away, its like seeing small snow flakes, and its hard to see small lettering on paper..

Okay qualaquin is an anti-malarial drug just like Mepron. You are probably taking this for Babs, right? You need an antibiotic that works with the anti-malarial drug so that's why you're on Biaxin.

I hope my explanation helped some.

Clindamyacin is generic for Biaxin.

I dont know about the rx's you are speaking about... but I am very familiar with the metal taste from other drugs. I did find that lemons and pickles were sometimes good to temporary rid the metalic taste.

You have to take anti-malarials for Bart. Mepron, melorone and the one you're on is used for Bart. When trying to rid the body of Bart, an Antibiotic has to be given with the anti-malarial because they work together. It's hard for me to explain it. I've been having brain issues lately. Sorry about that.

Put it this way, the protocol you are on is for Bart and Lyme. If the Clindomyacin bothers you too much, ask your doctor if Zithromax can be taken with qualaquin.

This might sound strange and it came from an alternative source. Lyme patients livers sometimes do not work properly, my husband's liver enzymes have never normalized since he got lyme eight years ago. Sometimes the liver will not rid your body of metal toxins such as mercury from teeth fillings. Anyway, this also can cause the metal taste in the mouth and you can do a detox for it. If it doesn't go away after you are off the meds, I'd try a metal detox.

Hi, I had a metallic taste in my mouth back in my early 20's when the doctor suspects that I was infected.  Noone could explain what it was from.  I was not on any meds at the time.  One more piece of the puzzle!
KO
2001 symptoms started:
Tingling in fingers and toes both sides, not tested at that time for LD
2007 Summer tested pos. WB, diagnosed with LD, tested neg for co-infections thru Igenex
Abx - Doxy 100mg 2x/day for 3 weeks (before diagnosis)
Amoxicillin 1gm 2x/day for 1 month
Amoxicillin 1gm 3x/day with Probenecid 500mg 2x/day  5 months
Currently on Dr. Zhang's protocol stopped Zhang's after 6 months symptoms returned.  Started Buhner's protocol May 2009

James,

Call your pharmacist and ask them if there is anything you can do.
