Hey hun. I looked on eBay because I want to buy a portable sauna to help with detoxing. I have a few questions though. There are a few different kinds. Some have carbon, others have ION. Which one do you have and did a chair come with your order?

Also, what is the highest temperature setting on yours?

The one that looks the most like mine is this one:
cgi.ebay.com/X-LARGE-INFRARED-PORTABLE-SAUNA-FIR-SPA-DETOX-ION-HOME_W0QQitemZ230355061413QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item35a23b4aa5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms

Mine has a chair and the foot massager and the control looks the same. One set of up and down arrows control the heat and the other the time. It doesn't have a temperature setting--just heat levels 1-6. At a guess they will all get the job done. I got the extra large figuring my husband would use it, but he doesn't. Some of the saunas are silver, some are blue and some are pink. Best to take it slowly at first and build up to the higher heat and longer time. The carbon panels are the newer technology. I put towels on the chair when I use it and keep a small towel inside because you really really sweat in these. Supposedly Lyme dies at a prolonged temp of 105. The time spent in the sauna technically should not be long enough to kill anything. But my daughter has herxed from using it. So I thing it either kills something or removes the toxins from the fats cells into the blood stream so your body can flush them out and that causes the herx.

Thanks so much! The one you picked was one I had looked at. I appreciate all the information too. I think this will definitely help get the toxins out. The bath detox works but I don't think it is enough for me.

How is your daughter doing now?

I would suggest not going with the extra large unit, I did but mine was used.  If you are shorter than 6 feet it will be too large for you and you will have to use a folded towel to sit on to bring your head up to the right height to stick out of the top.  I didn't even think about this when I bought mine.

P.S. I also drink a tall glass of water before using it, I seem to sweat more when I do this and can tolerate it for the 30 minutes. KO

My husband just ordered me and 4 person size Fir Infrared Sauna for detoxing. Is there a protocol for using this? Do you use it durring herxing or before you start antibiotics to get as much detoxing done as possible before overloading your liver and kindeys. It comes in next Tues.

Is the width the same on all of them? I am 5'8". Should I get the extra large or large? I am not a skinny person either, lol. What do you think?

What exactly does a infra red sauna do? I am having a hard time finding a llmd so I thought I would try other ways of treating myself until I find a dr. Will a sauna help with getting rid of lyme without being on abx?

Tricia: Its usually used after starting antibiotics. Mostly after herxing to get all of the toxins out from the die off of the bacteria.

Jewels: Welcome to the forum! The reason for the infared sauna is to get the toxins out of your body after they start dying off. I'm sure a sauna is beneficial for other things as well but I don't think it is enough to treat Lyme. You probably need to see an LLMD. Here is some information to help you find a doctor:

Ticker is a very knowlegeable member here and if you make a new post asking for help finding a doctor, I'm sure she will help you You should post your email so that members can tell you the contact info privately. You can email: stephanie@turnthecorner.org to find a Lyme Literate Doctor in your area. You can also go to: www.turnthecorner.org/bod.htm and ask for further sugestions.

For more info, please read the topic at the top of the first page of this forum tittled "The Basics, Newbies check this out". It will help you get started learning about lyme.

CajanGrl, I'm not sure about the width, but you can check some of the ads on ebay, that's where I got mine.  At 5'8" I would go with the large, mine is very roomy, way more that I or even my husband would need if he would ever use it!  I just think it would be more comfortable it I didn't have to sit on a folded towel to make me tall enough.  KO
