For those of us who have viruses, like Mono, amongst others:  Are we contagious?  James, do you know?  I had mono as a teenager, but evidently it is now reactivated or something, perhaps secondary infection -- and shows on my lab work as an active infection.  Looks like HHV6 is still unknown (except in the primary infections).  I show active parvovirus B19, but most healthy adults are immune.

Should I be letting people know? Do I need to tell my employer?  I really don't want to discuss my illnesses at work, besides mentioning the lyme, but do not want to be negligent either.  How about my kids?

I am not in an intimate relationship, and do not plan to be anytime soon.

Suspect TBI in 1972.  Attacked tonsils (recurring high fevers, constant low grade fevers, chronic tonsillitis) , pregnancy (miscarraige), appendix, heart (mitral valve prolapse), hypoglycemia, depression, chronic acute neck and back pain.

Next suspect Mother's Day 2007.  Diagnosed w/ Lyme and Bart June 2009. (awaiting more test results)

In treatment for recurrent depression, anxiety, low thyroid.

Bit again 7/1/2009, began Doxy 200 mg /day

Lyme can be sexually transmitted.
But having had mono...years back...don't think so.
One of my DR.s told me I had epstien barr..at one point....what an dumb $%%$##
My whole family got very sick back in 2002 while spending our summer in Martha's Vineyard. We found tiny ticks all over us.  My symptoms were too many to list.
But the worst of them was heart problems, depression, pain in evey joint , vertigo, dementia, fever, anxiety, migrains, bad night sweats, nightmares, insomnia, awful fatique, memory loss. And then unable to finish a sentence, drive, cook, and care for children.
Took me till 2009 to get treatment that worked. I tried everything else.
Alternative medicine worked for me.
My 6 year old developed insomia, moods swings, cogintive problems, pain in joints, and depression and anixiety and OCD.
My 11 month old developed severe arthritis and nausea, and migrains and fatigue.
Lyme is a battle. I am now trying to get my children the same treatment that I received at Envita.

mono can be transmitted by saliva or a cough i believe.. but i think only within the first couple of weeks though.. and that is usually when people still feel healthy.

I Told my boss about mono/cmv/low wbc/lyme/ect.. just incase i need to take off work and be put on medical leave.. i'm not going to die in the store..

HHV6 is transmitted through the air but only people with low immune systems like us get it. I was freaked out too. I was in school when I had this. My doctor told me not to worry about it that she was sure I wouldn't give anyone anything. That was a year ago and my family is fine. Like I said, it mostly gets transmitted to people with low immune systems. Just be cautious around people like that.

I was still overly cautious after she told me that though. I wouldn't let people drink after me and I didn't cough on anyone.

Does your children have Lyme?

CG, my kids have never been tested. They are all grown. I'm working on my daughter (the youngest), but she just switched jobs and needs to find out when coverage starts. I don't know if I can get them to do it. Perhaps if she tested positive, my boys would consider it.

All my kids were breast fed, all of them were colicky and projectile vomiters, tho they all were very fat babies. I will always wonder, esp since I lost my first pregnancy.

My kids have never been tested either and I worry about them having Lyme all the time. If only I knew when I contracted it.

My oldest daughter had the projectile vomitting and my youngest was colicky. I notice little things all the time in both of them that makes me wonder. My youngest was just on 1000mg of cipro for an ear infection and had no herx or reations to it so, I just don't know. I keep an eagle eye out on both of them.
