Has anyone just taken a break from all meds for a day or two without their doctor's okay?  I just feel like  I need a break for a day or two but don't want to do more damage.  Since February, I've been on heavy duty meds with only one 2-week break with the iv's.  I'm on iv rocephin, mino, mepron, zithro, actigall, diflucan, armour thyroid, art and various supplements (too many to list; approx. 10.  I think for today I might just take a break from everything but the armour thyroid.

What do you think?

I am not going to say - yes take a break - but if you feel you need to - why not ask your Dr if it would be o.k. - maybe have a longer break from some of them rather than suddenly stopping everything - I wish I had a more knowledgeable answer for you but really only a Dr. would know.

best wishes

Scorpio,

In my opinion, I think our bodies do need a break every once in a while BUT I wouldn't get off unless your doctor knew first. I don't see why he would say no. You may have a toxin overload and you probably need a good detox too. You are also on so much medicine. Not that that is a bad thing, but I'm sure it's causing major die off and that's why you couldn't remember where you were the other day. Ask your doctor first though just to be on the safe side.

Feel better soon! Gentle hugs;)

scorpio, i am so sorry your feeling so badly. i read so many different things about treatments. that some Drs even do not want you to have a server herx. so i would suggest you ask your DR about this and see what he/she has to say.

Alot of LLMDs use the pulse antibiotics so it seems like it is ok to take breaks! Especially if your getting hit too hard! Sometimes Herxs are too much to handle and your body gets overloaded! Obviously pulsed antibiotics work of the top LLMDs wouldnt do it that way!!

Thanks everybody.

Yesterday, for the first time I just couldn't stand the thought of taking even one pill or hooking up that darn iv. I've had it. I've been feeling really bad for a while and I think yesterday was more an emotional thing. I think it was anyway, although I'm not sure of anything these dys. lol

I spoke to my doctor last week and we had agreed I was going to take a break from everything when this cycles ends October 1. I did try calling him yesterday when I woke up feeling as I was having a mini emotional breakdown but he will not be in until Tuesday. I didn't even want to leave a message or wait for a call back. I've been following all orders to the tee but just rebelled I guess (LOL) and took a mini break. Can't imagine it would make me any worse than I already am. This afternoon I have an appt. with the periodontist and decided again to take a break and see if I can manage to actually get there. I'll resume all meds tomorrow and will tell my doc at the next appointment. I've cancalled 4 times already and am afraid they will not make any more appointments for me if I cancel this one.

I do not suggest anyone else do this without consulting their doctors and am a little surprised that I did it myself. I just felt in my gut that I couldn't do or take any of it yesterday.

On the good side, the diflucan and restricted diet (which I did stick to so far this week-lol) is helping a lot with the sinus inflammation. I also did not wake up today in the emotional state I was in yesterday morning. I feel a little more even and level, emotionally that is. I still feel as if I'm going to keel over when I stand up. lol

Nothing at all has changed with the severe brain fog though and that is what is driving me crazy. I've had really bad brain fog all along but this is so much worse. I can barely get to the bathroom without getting lost and it's right next to my bedroom. LOL

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent and hopefully I'll really be back soon. I feel guilty for coming on lately and asking for advice and support and then disappearing. Please know that I don't take you guys for granted and appreciate every single response even if I don't address each one right now.

I hope you all understand and thank you.

Hey again Scorpio,

When I had bad herxes, I had to stop my meds for a few days. My LLMD told me to stop until I felt better again. It was usually 3-4 days.

Is there anyway you can do a detox? I bet it would helps little with the brain fog. I'm not sure about doing it with a picc line though.

The Zhang herbs are what finally lifted my brain fog. I have been antibiotic free for about 5 months now. Still taking the herbs. The antibiotics only took me so far.
